The trailer announcing the date also introduced Hyperspace Lumiose, a parallel version of the city reached through portals opened by Hoopa. The expansion is available for both the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, but you must finish the base game’s main story before progressing through the DLC story.
When did the Mega Dimension DLC come out?
The Pokémon Company’s November 6, 2025 trailer page set the release date for the DLC’s additional story and content as Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The earlier September announcement had said the story would arrive soon after the base game’s October 16 launch, without giving a specific day. The official trailer announcement supplied the firm date.

What did the trailer reveal?
Hyperspace Lumiose and its new characters
Spatial distortions open paths from Lumiose City into Hyperspace Lumiose, a parallel city that is similar to, but not quite the same as, the familiar one. Hoopa turns the distortions into portals, and the player meets Ansha, a mysterious girl accompanied by the Mythical Pokémon. The new area contains Pokémon that do not appear in regular Lumiose.
Hyper-strong Pokémon and new Mega Evolutions
Some Pokémon in Hyperspace Lumiose have hyperspace levels above the usual level-100 limit, making them especially powerful. The trailer teased rare and previously unseen Mega-Evolved Pokémon; Nintendo later identified Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur as expansion debuts. Ansha also makes donuts from Berries, with different effects that can help against high-level Pokémon. The expansion’s story content includes the Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, according to Nintendo Support.

Does Mega Dimension work on Switch and Switch 2?
Nintendo says the DLC works with both Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. It can be purchased through the Nintendo eShop on either Switch 2 or the original Switch. You must also have the full base game, physical or digital, on the console to use the DLC. See Nintendo’s compatibility and purchase information.
