Blue Protocol: Star Resonance has nine Life Skills: six crafting professions and three gathering professions, plus optional Fishing. You can develop multiple skills, but Focus limits many progression-oriented actions. Choose a craft for the items you want to make, then consider its gathering partners if you want to source more materials yourself. Because the available guides date to 2025 and the game’s official listing says Life Skills have been updated, check current recipes, Focus values, caps, and recommendations in the live game.
How the Life Skills system works
Life Skills are divided into Crafting and Gathering. Crafting turns ingredients into gear, consumables, gems, and decorative items; Gathering supplies some of those ingredients. The professions form a connected production chain, so the useful question is not only what a skill makes, but also what it needs and whether you want to gather those inputs or obtain them elsewhere.

Azul Mosaic Tile-Placement Strategy Board Game, 2-4 Players, 30-45 Min | $31.99 | Buy on Amazon |
Prydwen Institute’s 2025 Life Skills guide describes Basic gathering and crafting actions as costing no Focus and giving minimal Life Skill experience. Focused actions consume a variable amount of Focus and provide more experience and progression-oriented outputs. The guide reports 400 Focus recovery per day; a separate beginner guide reports a 2,000 Focus storage cap. These are dated guide values, not confirmation of current-season limits. Verify them in the client.
Multiple skills can be picked up and leveled, according to the 2025 guide. Focus therefore shapes how you spend time on focused actions; it does not mean you must choose only one profession.

- PERFECT BOARD GAME FOR TWO ADULTS: Azul shines in head-to-head 2-player duels and scales brilliantly to 3 or 4 players. New tile combinations each round make every game a fresh, replayable challenge
- GREAT GIFT ADULT BOARD GAME: Designed for 2-4 players ages 8 and up, 30-45 minutes playtime. Azul is consistently a top-rated mosaic board game worthy of any collection, family game night at home, road trips, vacations or gifts
Crafting skills: what each one makes
| Skill | Main outputs | Important inputs or links |
|---|---|---|
| Smelting | Refinement materials, mech shards, and some Strength-oriented armor and weapons. Examples named by the guide include Mystery Metal, Fine Forgestone, and Radiant Stone. | Mineralogy and Artisanry are relevant sources of inputs. |
| Culinary | Food with combat bonuses and other consumables, including examples that boost attack, magic attack, defense, stamina, or health. | Ingredients may come from Botany, hunting, fishing, or vendors. The guide also describes bait as craftable through Culinary. |
| Gemcrafting | Cut gems for embedding in gear and jewelry. | Gemology and Artisanry support this craft. |
| Weaving | Dyes, some Intelligence- and Agility-based gear, talismans, and homestead decorations. | Botany supplies most materials; hunting also contributes. |
| Artisanry | Crafting components used by Smelting and Gemcrafting, plus weapons such as hoops, staves, guitars, and bows. | It supports players investing in Smelting or Gemcrafting. |
| Alchemy | Offensive Serums, defensive Drops, healing consumables, conversion potions, toys, and furniture Dye Sprays. | Botany supplies many required inputs. Alchemy consumables can be used alongside Culinary consumables. |
Choosing combat consumables
Culinary is the direct route to food buffs, while Alchemy covers several potion and utility categories. Prydwen’s 2025 guide gives Meatfish Skewer Lv.3 as an example with ATK +150; that is a dated recipe example, so check the current recipe and value before relying on it. The guide also says its Cheer-Up treat multiplies repeatable Chaotic Realm rewards, but not capped daily, weekly, or event rewards. Confirm current item behavior in-game before spending materials.
Choosing gems for stats
The 2025 guide maps gem colors to stats as follows: red to Crit Rate, yellow to Luck, green to Mastery, and blue to Haste. It maps shapes to stats as square for Stamina, pear for Intelligence, fancy for Agility, and triangle for Strength. Check current gem descriptions in-game, especially if a patch has changed item effects.
Gathering skills: the main material sources
| Skill | What it gathers | Where it feeds into the system |
|---|---|---|
| Mineralogy | Mineable materials and Engram Dust. | Especially useful to Smelting; the guide also describes selling gathered resources as one way to turn Focus into Luno. |
| Botany | Herbs, fungi, and fruits, including rare gathered ingredients used in recipes. | Broadly used, particularly by Culinary, Alchemy, and Weaving. |
| Gemology | Raw gemstones, general materials, and Engram Dust. | Mainly supplies Gemcrafting. |
Pair skills around what you want to make
If self-sufficiency matters, pairing a craft with its relevant gathering or support profession can reduce reliance on buying inputs. These are useful guide-based links, not a claim that they are the only efficient combinations or the current season’s optimal builds.
- Smelting: pair with Mineralogy for ore-related inputs; Artisanry is also relevant for components.
- Gemcrafting: pair with Gemology for raw stones and Artisanry for supporting components.
- Weaving or Alchemy: consider Botany, which supplies many of their ingredients.
- Culinary: expect a broader mix of inputs from Botany, hunting, fishing, or vendors, depending on the recipe.
If your priority is participating in the economy rather than making a particular item, gathering resources for sale is another option described by the guide. Actual value and demand depend on the current market, so inspect live listings rather than assuming any resource will sell profitably.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFishing: an optional, Focus-free activity
The 2025 guide describes Fishing as optional and not consuming Focus. Fish can be used in Culinary recipes, and the guide also connects fishing with Season Hub achievements, guild activities and cargo, and other in-game rewards. Its introductory quest supplies a Regular Fishing Pole and bait; bait may also be purchased or crafted through Culinary.
The fishing locations in that guide reflect its 2025 update and should not be treated as a current location list. Use the live map and current patch information to find fishing spots and confirm related activities.
A practical way to decide
- Pick the output you care about. Choose among combat food and potions, gear-related materials, gems and jewelry, weapons, dyes, or decorations.
- Check the inputs for current recipes. Identify which ingredients come from gathering, other crafts, hunting, fishing, or vendors.
- Decide how much you want to gather yourself. Add a relevant gathering or support skill if producing your own inputs matters; otherwise, buying materials may be more convenient.
- Budget Focus for focused actions. Use Focus where you want the additional experience and progression-oriented outputs, and verify present-day recovery and storage values in-game.
- Recheck after updates. Recipes, caps, and the value of particular goods can change; do not assume a 2025 guide’s exact figures or rankings still apply.
What to verify in the current season
The official game listing notes that Life Skills have been updated. The skill descriptions and production links above reflect the Prydwen guides’ 2025 coverage, not a guarantee that every recipe or mechanic remains unchanged. In particular, check current Focus recovery and cap, recipe ingredients and outputs, item effects, gathering locations, and market demand in the live game.
