A Maelle build demonstrated by YouTuber BltzZ reportedly dealt more than 1.1 billion damage to Simon in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The key is a prepared, team-assisted Burning Canvas attack—not a guaranteed one-button kill or a verified strategy for a newly added boss.
What the reported Maelle build does
GamesRadar described BltzZ’s post-update demonstration as a setup that layers status effects and damage boosts before Maelle uses Burning Canvas, an attack that hits five times. In the video result reported by GamesRadar, the attack dealt over 1.1 billion damage to Simon. That figure belongs to a gameplay demonstration; it is not an independently reproduced test or a guaranteed outcome.

The reported sequence relies on the party to prepare the target and empower Maelle:
- Sciel and Lune help apply Mark and Burn stacks to Simon.
- Sciel’s Fortune’s Fury is cast on Maelle for a reported 200% damage boost.
- Gradient Overcharge consumes three Gradient stacks for double damage.
- Feint suppresses the first four hits and raises the fifth hit to 600%, concentrating the attack’s payoff in its final strike.
The practical idea is to build the target’s vulnerabilities and Maelle’s multipliers first, then cash them in with a high-impact final hit. GamesRadar says BltzZ’s video shows the full build, but its account does not establish every stat, Lumina choice, or exact action in a complete rotation.

Why the “new boss” wording needs care
Simon is the target of the reported Maelle demonstration, but the available coverage does not identify him as a boss newly introduced by the update. The game’s official patch 1.5.0 announcement says the update added new late-game Endless Tower boss battles, described as harder variations of iconic bosses from the main game. The announcement separately quotes Sandfall Interactive director Guillaume Broche describing the release as including “new weapons, new quest, new boss.” That statement does not establish that Simon is the newly added boss in BltzZ’s demonstration.
How this differs from other Maelle one-shot guides
Other current guides discuss different Maelle damage setups, not a confirmed alternate description of BltzZ’s Burning Canvas build. A guide updated August 12, 2026, says its information was checked against patch 1.5.6, released June 30, 2026. It describes Virtuose stance as a major damage state and Medalum as a weapon that can start Maelle in that stance and enhance Burn mechanics. A June 2026 guide, by contrast, describes a Stendhal one-shot loadout using Medalum and Painted Power.

These approaches should not be merged into one presumed recipe. Their weapons, attacks, stance assumptions, and team preparation differ, and the cited guides do not verify that their loadouts reproduce BltzZ’s result.
Does the build still work after the update?
The newest official patch verified here is version 1.5.6, listed as live on June 30, 2026. Its official announcement lists Arabic text support and bug fixes, including a fix affecting Burn after an enemy is stunned. This establishes the patch context, not that the reported one-shot was retested on that version. Later changes may affect compatibility, so the 1.1-billion result should be treated as a reported demonstration rather than a current guarantee.

What to expect if Simon survives
The reported damage depends on the whole setup landing as described: status preparation, Maelle’s buffs, available Gradient stacks, and the boosted fifth hit. The source does not document a recovery rotation or explain what BltzZ did if the finishing strike failed to defeat the target. Treat the sequence as a high-multiplier demonstration, not a complete boss strategy with a verified fallback.
