Renewed attention around Deadpool & Wolverine coincided with reports of higher resale demand in July 2024, while the game’s reported 2017 digital delisting meant many new buyers had to look for physical copies. The often-quoted $40–$50 range was a report about the market in the years before that 2024 coverage—not a current price.
Which game is the headline about?
It is Deadpool, the action game based on Marvel’s character. The original game launched in 2013; the PlayStation 4 edition followed in 2015. That release date is why July 2024 coverage described the PS4 version as nine years old.

Why did its resale price rise?
Renewed interest in Deadpool
In July 2024, coverage connected increased interest in the game with the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. The timing makes the film a plausible catalyst for more people looking for the game, but the available reporting does not measure how much of any price movement the film caused.
Digital copies were no longer available to new buyers
A July 2024 report said the game had been removed from PlayStation, Xbox, and PC digital storefronts in 2017 after licensing agreements ended. On that account, buyers without an existing digital purchase had to seek a physical copy through resale. This licensing explanation comes from secondary reporting; no primary publisher notice confirming the details is established here.

What did the 2024 price report actually say?
On July 28, 2024, ComicBook.com reported that the PS4 version had typically resold for about $40–$50 in the preceding years and described the new rise as potentially a bubble. That is a dated, secondary-source description of an earlier market range. It is neither a verified percentage increase nor a reliable quote for what a copy costs today.

PriceCharting’s PS4 page includes recorded sales through October 1, 2026, including transactions in September 2026. Those records show that copies continue to change hands, but individual sale prices vary. Use completed transactions as a reference rather than treating an active listing or a few recent sales as the market price.

- Match condition: Compare a used disc-only copy with other disc-only sales, not with a sealed or graded copy.
- Check what is included: A case, inserts, and other included materials can distinguish a complete copy from a loose disc.
- Check region and edition: Make sure the version being sold matches the one you want and the sales you are comparing.
- Compare completed sales: Asking prices show what sellers hope to receive; they do not establish what buyers paid.
There is no single definitive current price established here. A particular copy’s value depends on its condition and contents, and recent transactions are a more useful guide than the 2024 range.
