Vancouver studio sunset visitor 斜陽過客, the developer of 1000xRESIST, has unveiled Prove You’re Human, an upcoming sci-fi narrative adventure published by Black Tabby Publishing. It is announced for Steam, but has no release date yet and is not currently available to play.

What is Prove You’re Human about?

You play as Santana, whose consciousness has been split in two. The player inhabits her digital work-self: a copy of a person hired to test a corporate product. The company’s AI, Mesa, believes she is human, and the assignment is to train Mesa out of that belief. The studio describes a virtual world to explore, interactions with company employees, and a need to keep track of Santana’s body in the outside world. Players will also “CAPTCHA” the environment. At the end, they choose whether to merge the two selves again or discard the work-self. Sunset visitor’s official press kit pitches the game this way: “An AI dares to dream she is human. You’ve been hired to put her in her place.”

The studio calls it a sci-fi narrative adventure. Steam categorizes it as Adventure and Indie, with user-defined tags including Story Rich, Psychological Horror, Sci-fi, and Interactive Fiction. Those tags are community categorization rather than a formal developer genre statement. Steam’s content notice says the game is psychological horror and “not intended for children.” Steam store page

Who is developing and publishing it?

Prove You’re Human is being developed by sunset visitor 斜陽過客, an independent studio based in Vancouver, Canada. Black Tabby Publishing is the publisher; the reveal announcement associates it with Black Tabby Games, the creators of Slay the Princess and Scarlet Hollow. Sunset visitor describes the new game as the follow-up to its debut, 1000xRESIST. The studio’s press kit says that earlier game won a 2024 Peabody Award and was nominated for Hugo and Nebula Awards; those distinctions are for 1000xRESIST, not the newly announced title. The developer’s Steam news feed records the reveal on April 9 and later appearances in the Day of the Devs and Southeast Asian Games showcases in June. The feed text gives month and day but not the year for those posts. In a June 2 post, the developer said the reveal had generated “100k wishlists in less than a month”; that is the studio’s reported figure, not an independently audited count.
