For a buying decision, weigh the $400 difference in those observed US listings against the Ally X’s stronger listed components and higher capacity. Battery capacity is not a battery-life estimate: the official materials cited here do not establish universal real-world runtime or independent performance results. ASUS published pre-release comparisons under specific game, resolution, graphics, frame-rate, and operating-mode conditions; those vendor test claims should not be treated as general performance guarantees.

Xbox said in its August 2025 announcement that Xbox Play Anywhere supported over 1,000 games. That is Xbox’s stated count at the time, not a current catalog count. ASUS says most Xbox Play Anywhere games should support cloud saves and progress syncing.
ASUS product pages promote an included three-month Game Pass offer and say a valid payment method is required; the subscription renews at its regular monthly price unless cancelled. Offer eligibility, terms, renewal details, and game catalog availability can change, so review current ASUS product details and Xbox terms before relying on the offer.
Can you upgrade storage or use the Ally with a monitor?
ASUS says the M.2 SSD uses the standard 2280 form factor and can be upgraded. For an external monitor, the device supports USB-C DisplayPort. ASUS recommends the Bulwark Dock (2025) DG300 or another 130W-capable dock for monitor and peripheral use. It also confirms compatibility with Xbox controllers, ROG Raikiri controllers, and PC-compatible gamepads. Check exact accessory compatibility and current availability before buying.
