Looking for hidden locations in Avowed? This curated selection of ten routes leads to treasure caches, tucked-away passages, and rewarding detours across the Living Lands. It is not an exhaustive ranking: the picks favor distinctive access, memorable or useful rewards, and variety across regions. Spoilers are limited to route and reward details.
How to find hidden locations in Avowed
Avowed rewards exploring beyond quest markers with treasure, lore, points of interest, and unusual interactions. Xbox Wire recommends checking balconies, riverbeds, underground pools, and the space behind waterfalls—and talking to unusual NPCs even when they have no marker. As its guide puts it, “If something looks or sounds a little odd, there’s almost always a reason for that.” (Xbox Wire, February 13, 2025.)
Treasure-map clues show a recognizable view rather than placing a precise marker on your map. Match the image to the landscape, then search nearby. Windows Central’s 2025 guide documents 12 treasure maps—three in each of Dawnshore, Emerald Stair, Shatterscarp, and Galawain’s Tusks. That is a count of treasure maps, not of every hidden place in the game.
- Scout around buildings. A crawl-through window or breakable weak wall may offer an alternate entrance and save lockpicks.
- Check elevation. If the minimap suggests a nearby collectible but you cannot see it, look for its up-or-down marker and search above or below your current level.
- Keep the Grimoire handy. Lightning can activate switches, and fire can clear cobwebs hiding a shortcut.
- Expect different kinds of obstacles. A route may call for a jump, a breakable obstruction, a concealed switch, a lockpick, or a fight. The picks below describe their documented access without assigning an unverified difficulty rating.
Ten worthwhile hidden locations
These routes are a curated selection, not an official ranking or a complete catalog. Route and reward details below are drawn from Jennifer Young’s Windows Central treasure-map guide, last updated February 15, 2025. Check the pictured landmark in-game, since a clue’s location and a treasure’s name may differ.

1. Broken-bridge cave south of the Yellow Bandit’s camp — Dawnshore
Use the broken bridge pictured in the clue to find the nearby cave south of the Yellow Bandit’s camp. Inside, break through the planks to reach the chest containing Stelgaer’s Price. This is a direct, landmark-led detour with a breakable obstruction rather than a conventional front-door entrance.
2. Concealed passage behind Mermaid’s Den — Dawnshore
From outside Paradis’s walls, head behind Mermaid’s Den and follow the ravine. Look for a concealed wall button that opens a door into the passage. The cache’s listed reward is the Gloves of the Strangler; the route’s defining feature is finding the hidden mechanism rather than breaking through a wall.
3. Cliff opening beyond Ranger Headquarters — Emerald Stair
The Practical Pockets clue points beyond Ranger Headquarters. Search the cliff for a small opening to find the cache containing Hjilde’s Handy Hide. The opening is easy to overlook if you follow the landmark only as far as the headquarters.
Rank #2
- Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.
- Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
- Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem

- Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities.
4. Branch route into a building near Naku Tedek — Emerald Stair
Find the Earthy Aegis map by the ruins, then use a branch to climb to an opening in a building. Inside, locate the concealed switch. The route combines a vertical approach with a hidden mechanism, making it a good example of why a collectible’s minimap marker may require looking above your current level.
5. Waterfall-side cave near Rootbound Godless Ruins — Emerald Stair
To reach Painter’s Regret, enter another cave beside the waterfall, follow it around, and break through a wall. The winding approach makes this a more involved detour than simply searching the waterfall’s visible face. The guide identifies the treasure as Painter’s Regret.
6. Elevated cave above the Ancient Lakebed — Shatterscarp
The Robe of the Arcane Cheater clue leads to a cave entrance approached from above the Ancient Lakebed. Follow the landscape upward rather than searching only at lakebed level. The guide lists Robes of Surpassing Brilliance as the cache reward.
Rank #3
- Premium Edition includes: Avowed base game, Premium Skin Packs: 2 sets of bonus skins for each of your companions, and access to Avowed Digital Artbook & Original Soundtrack
- Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
- Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem.
- Mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields to fight your way.
- Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities.
7. Corpse beneath the Sulfur Mines arch — Shatterscarp
Use the arch near the Sulfur Mines as your landmark, then check beneath the bridge for a corpse carrying the treasure. There is a naming discrepancy in the guide: its clue heading refers to Seafarer’s Boots, while the reward is called Wavebinder Boots. Look for the corpse and verify the item name in your game rather than assuming those labels are interchangeable.
8. Upper tower opening at Shark’s Teeth — Shatterscarp
At Shark’s Teeth, use a branch to reach an opening high in a tower. The chest inside requires three lockpicks, according to the guide, and contains Unique Necropants. This is the clearest lockpick-heavy pick in the selection, so consider scouting for alternate access before committing resources.

9. Skeleton on a rock in the Writhing Ruins — Galawain’s Tusks
The Ancient Arrowhead map points to the area northwest of the Writhing Ruins entrance. The guide warns that giant bugs are present; search for a skeleton on a rock to find the treasure. This route pairs an easily missed landmark with a potential combat encounter.
10. Hidden-button tower between Slumbering Fields and Amalia’s Camp — Galawain’s Tusks
Follow the pictured tower route between Slumbering Fields and Amalia’s Camp, climb the stairs, then press a hidden button on a table. The cache’s listed reward is the Umbral Needle wand. The route rewards careful inspection of the room after the climb, not just reaching the tower.

Some worthwhile secrets are not treasure-map destinations. Xbox Wire specifically calls out out-of-the-way balconies, unusual NPCs, riverbeds, underground pools, and spaces behind waterfalls as places to investigate. Those are useful search patterns, not named coordinates or guaranteed reward locations. Treat them as prompts to explore rather than as a separate list of fixed caches.
