Yes. Where Winds Meet is free to download and play on PS5 in the US PlayStation Store. The $14.99 listing is for an optional add-on: 900 Echo Beads, the game’s virtual currency—not the base game.
What does the $14.99 listing buy?
The US PlayStation Store lists “Where Winds Meet – 900 Echo Beads” for $14.99. Echo Beads are virtual currency for in-game purchases; buying them is not required to download or play the free base game. The store also lists other currency bundles and a Monthly Fund add-on for $4.99. These are separate purchases, and prices or catalogue items may change. Check the current US PlayStation Store listing.
Are in-game purchases required?
No. PlayStation labels in-game purchases as optional. Its official game FAQ identifies an optional battle pass, paid cosmetic items and a monthly subscription, and says they do not affect a player’s abilities or skills. That is PlayStation’s description; it is not an independent assessment of the game’s monetization.
NetEase described the game as free-to-play and promised “no pay-to-win mechanics” in its November 14, 2025 launch announcement. That is the publisher’s stated promise.

What should PS5 players know about online play?
PlayStation’s listing says online play is required. It describes Where Winds Meet as an open-world action-adventure RPG with Wuxia-inspired combat; the main campaign can be played solo or with up to four friends. PlayStation Plus Premium is specified for PS5 and PS Portal cloud streaming, not as a requirement for ordinary local play. The US store listing is the source for those platform details.
Does the price apply outside the US?
The $14.99 figure is the price shown on the US PlayStation Store listing reviewed on October 7, 2026, for the 900 Echo Beads add-on. Store prices and availability vary by region and can change, so check your local PlayStation Store for its current listing.
