The nine best special-card options to consider
1–6. The 97-rated TOTY group
FUTBIN’s cited database result lists Rodri, Jude Bellingham, Vini Jr., Aitana Bonmatí, “Wilson,” and Caroline Graham Hansen at 97 overall. That shared rating places them in the strongest evidence-backed group available for this list, but does not justify ranking one above another on gameplay. “Wilson” is reproduced as shown in the listing: the identity should not be expanded or silently changed without confirming the exact item page.

FUTBIN’s result was crawled approximately two months before October 7, 2026. Treat those ratings as a dated database snapshot, not a current market check or a fresh evaluation of gameplay. Verify the individual item page and current in-game details before building a squad around any one entry.

7. A FUT Birthday campaign item
FUT Birthday is among the special-release campaigns shown in FUTBIN’s FC 25 listings. It is a category to search when you want a campaign version; the evidence here does not identify a particular FUT Birthday player, rating, or role that belongs in an objective top nine. Compare the exact item’s stats and position with your squad rather than treating the campaign name itself as a quality ranking.
8. A Fantasy FC campaign item
Fantasy FC also appears among the FC 25 campaign listings. The available evidence confirms the campaign’s presence, not a specific card’s rating, current status, or performance. If considering an item, check its individual listing and in-game details; this ranking cannot establish its value or whether it outperforms a TOTY.

9. A Future Stars campaign item
Future Stars is another listed FC 25 release category. No individual Future Stars card is identified with enough supporting detail here to rank it against the six 97-rated TOTY examples. Treat it as a candidate category, not a claim that any Future Stars item is automatically among the game’s best.
Special cards are not one interchangeable category
EA describes Campaign Players as versions of standard Player Items released for particular campaigns, with distinct qualities and mechanics, upgraded stats, and special shells. FC 25’s special-item landscape also includes Team of the Week as well as campaign releases such as Team of the Year and Team of the Season. The release route and purpose vary by item, so “special” alone does not tell you how a card was obtained or how it performs.

Team of the Season illustrates why campaign names should not be mistaken for a player ranking: EA’s TOTS warm-up announcement described the return of community voting for three top-league XIs. That establishes campaign context, not the current availability or relative strength of a particular TOTS item. FUTBIN’s listings also include Grassroot Greats, alongside FUT Birthday, Fantasy FC, Future Stars, and Team of the Week.

Not as a blanket rule established by these sources. EA’s material describes campaign structures and release context; it does not provide a head-to-head performance study comparing TOTY and TOTS cards. The 97 OVR TOTY examples in FUTBIN’s database result support a rating-based observation about those specific items, not a conclusion that every TOTY is better than every TOTS. Compare the precise cards, positions, attributes, and squad needs in-game.

Check current availability before you plan around a card
Campaign item availability changes over time. EA’s TOTY announcement stated that the full roster would enter the Football Ultimate Team item pool from January 23 through January 31, 2025, with honorable mentions and the 12th man and woman appearing later in January. That is a historical release window, not evidence that those items are obtainable now. Likewise, the database snapshot does not establish present pack access or platform-specific transfer-market prices.
For a current decision, confirm the exact card in FC 25 and check its current item details and market on your platform. A rating-led shortlist can help you identify cards to inspect, but it cannot replace those checks when affordability, chemistry, or a specific role matters.
