Its biggest additions include an opt-in Solo vs Squads matchmaking option for solo Raiders at level 40 or above, the Trophy Display progression project, and Bird City, a Buried City map condition that rotates weekly.
When did the Headwinds update release?
Headwinds went live on January 27, 2026. Embark’s Patch Notes 1.13.0 and Nexon’s release announcement date the update to that day. Embark previewed it on January 26 in its announcement.
How does Solo vs Squads work?
Solo vs Squads is an optional way for a solo player to enter the Squads matchmaking queue. The January 27 patch notes say solo Raiders must be level 40 or above to use the toggle, which appears above matchmaking. The notes describe it as a chance to take on squads head-on.
Players who choose the mode receive a 20% end-of-round XP bonus, according to the patch notes. It applies whether the round ends in a successful extraction or defeat.

What is the Trophy Display project?
Trophy Display is a multi-step project built around hunting ARC and turning in their parts. The January 27 release notes describe five steps, with each step adding an item to a display case. The targets grow more dangerous as players progress.
Step rewards include blueprints and Raider Tokens. Completing all five steps awards a Howl emote, a guitar, and 300,000 Coins. The release notes say the project has no fixed end date and is not affected by Expedition resets; those are the rules documented at release and may change in later updates.

What does Bird City change in Buried City?
Bird City is a permanent map condition for Buried City, but it cycles in and out of the weekly rotation, according to the patch notes. During the condition, birds nest in empty chimneys, with more bird traps and ziplines around the map. Embark says players should expect more rooftop fighting, flying ARC, and nearby Raiders.
In its pre-release announcement, Embark previewed chimney loot and warned players to watch for other Raiders. The patch notes describe the implemented condition and its rotation.
