PayPal service resumed on May 20 in certain regions, but Gryphline has not announced a global restoration.
What happened with Arknights: Endfield PayPal purchases?
On January 22, 2026, the game’s launch day, players reported that PayPal charges did not match the purchases they intended to make. Contemporary coverage also described reports that one player’s PayPal account had been charged for another player’s purchase. These were player-reported experiences, not an independently audited account of individual transactions. PC Gamer’s contemporaneous coverage and GamesRadar+’s report on the incident documented those reports.
Hypergryph’s initial update, reproduced by GamesRadar+, said the issue affected a limited number of PayPal purchases through the official launcher and PayPal top-ups made through topup.gryphline.com. It described “an inconsistency between the order and item delivery.” The public account does not establish the precise technical defect, so it is not possible to say which specific component failed or to attribute the incident to PayPal itself.
How many orders were affected, and what did Hypergryph report?
In a later account, Hypergryph said its review found 3,429 affected orders across servers involving around 1,800 players. Hypergryph also reported approximately US$80,000 in affected order value and a highest single affected transaction of US$5,289. These are publisher figures quoted in GamesRadar+’s February 3 report, not independently audited totals.

What did the publisher do?
Hypergryph disabled PayPal after identifying the issue, reviewed transactions, and reported full refunds for affected orders. Later coverage said affected players kept rewards they had earned and that additional safeguards for third-party payment providers were added. The initial update said PayPal would stay disabled until the issue was resolved and thoroughly tested; the later restoration notice confirms service subsequently returned in selected regions.
