What was announced at the 2024 State of Play?
XLGAMES executive producer Yongjin Ham introduced the game under the name ArcheAge Chronicles and called it the next installment in the series. The announcement presented an online action RPG set in Auroria during an Age of Pioneers, as people rediscover the region and its ancient ruins. The story begins amid the aftermath of a catastrophic airship crash and the intrigue surrounding it. PlayStation.Blog’s September 24, 2024 announcement described the title as formerly known as ArcheAge 2.
What kind of game is ArcheAge Chronicles?
The developer’s description combines action-focused combat with the broad social and lifestyle activities associated with an online RPG. Ham explained the design goal in an October 10, 2024 developer diary: “Our goal is to make the game more accessible to a wider audience, expanding upon the typical MMO framework by incorporating open-world action gameplay.”
Combat and cooperative play
The announcement described combos, elemental attacks, defensive tactics, mobile characters, and team chain skills for raid encounters. In the later diary, Ham said most PvE encounters would be accessible to solo players, alongside party play, 20-player raids, world events, and open-world raid bosses. These are developer-described plans, not a guarantee that every feature or encounter will appear unchanged in the finished game. The diary is published on XLGAMES’ Steam community page.

Exploration and lifestyle systems
The State of Play presentation outlined a large open world with exploration and life skills, including farming, crafting, and trading. It also described dedicated housing zones, customizable homes, and player communities with a town-like feel. The October diary likewise highlighted housing and trade as returning lifestyle content. These features point to a game that aims to pair combat progression with activities outside of battles, though the descriptions reflect the development vision rather than independently verified gameplay.
Where and when is the story set?
The announcement places the story in Auroria during its rediscovery in an Age of Pioneers. Ham’s October 2024 diary places the events roughly 50 years after the original ArcheAge’s events. That gives the game a connection to the series’ world and timeline while focusing on a new period of exploration and upheaval.

Which platforms are listed, and when might it release?
The official ArcheAge Chronicles site lists Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation, and Xbox and invites visitors to wishlist the game. XLGAMES’ games catalogue describes it as a multi-platform online action RPG in development. The official game site reviewed October 7, 2026 does not state a launch date.
Kakao Games’ investor material dated April 30, 2026 listed the game as a global PC and console online action RPG scheduled for Q4 2026. That is a dated schedule estimate, not an exact release date or confirmation that the game launched. The relevant investor material is available from Kakao Games’ financial information page.

What remains unconfirmed?
The announcement and developer diary describe an evolving design, not a final feature checklist. The diary said PvP and the crime system were still being explored, so their final scope is not established by those materials. They also do not establish monetization, performance, or technical requirements. For now, the clearest picture is a planned action-oriented online RPG built around Auroria exploration, solo-accessible PvE, cooperative raids, and life-skill activities.
