Loadout Lab lists this five-attachment Multiplayer configuration under code A11-9SGAZ-4W11. Its dataset is marked S5 Reloaded, and the Gunsmith reading is dated September 6, 2026. Why recoil control suits the Maddox
Activision describes the Maddox RFB as a full-auto assault rifle with a fast fire rate and a large ammo pool. Its blowback system increases the fire rate for every second bullet, with some accuracy loss. That behavior makes recoil management a sensible priority for a flexible setup, even though the best trade-off depends on how you use the rifle. Activision’s Maddox RFB weapon guide.
Loadout Lab’s recorded weapon notes also list a big magazine, fast close-range time to kill, and quick sprint-to-fire as strengths, alongside early damage drop-off, low bullet velocity, and heavy recoil. Those are the listed base-weapon characteristics; they are not a measured result for the five-attachment build.

Balance context: what the official notes confirm
In Season 4 Reloaded notes dated July 2, 2026, Activision said the Maddox had fallen out of favor after earlier range and recoil nerfs, and described the changes as a partial reversal. The medium-damage value rose from 22 to 23, its range changed from 12.8–27.9 m to 12.7–32.4 m, and view-kick strength and deviation were slightly decreased. Season 4 patch notes.
Earlier, Treyarch wrote that the Maddox had been strong because of its quick close-quarters time to kill and controllable recoil that let it remain effective at longer ranges. That statement appears in the Season 1 patch notes; it describes the weapon’s earlier balance context, not a current performance guarantee.

Activision’s Season 6 overview confirms that Season 6 was active by September 17, 2026. The latest confirmed Maddox-specific changes identified here are the July Season 4 adjustments; that does not establish that no later adjustment occurred. - More range and lane control: Loadout Lab lists a low-recoil option with an optic and hybrid barrel. This prioritizes a different balance than the all-round build.
- Close-range mobility: Its close-range option favors mobility and sprint-to-fire, trading away some of the all-round setup’s emphasis.
- Gunfighter flexibility: Loadout Lab recommends adding a Short Barrel, Handling Laser, and RistRauch 7x optic with Gunfighter. These are suggested additions, not part of the five-attachment code above.
- Warzone or Zombies: Do not assume a Multiplayer setup transfers directly. CODMunity lists separate mode-specific builds, including a Warzone sniper-support configuration; its individual recommendations have older update dates than the Loadout Lab Gunsmith-read build used here.
