There is no officially confirmed best hero for every situation in Dispatch. The strongest choice depends on what an emergency demands: match a hero’s strengths to the job and weigh its risks, rewards, and possible effects on the team. Coupé is suggested as a versatile pick by one unofficial guide, but that recommendation covers only Episodes 1–2.
How to choose the right hero in Dispatch
Dispatch is AdHoc Studio’s superhero workplace-comedy game, where you manage a roster and send heroes to emergencies on a strategy map. Nintendo describes the task as deploying the “right (or wrong) heroes” to handle ongoing emergencies; Steam likewise presents roster management and mission decisions as central to play. Nintendo’s game announcement and Steam’s game page support a mission-by-mission approach, not a universal ranking.
Read the job before assigning a hero
Start with the emergency’s demands and risks, then select a hero whose abilities suit them. A hero who is a sensible choice for one job may not be the best fit for another; a character’s broad reputation is less useful than the specific needs of the assignment.
Consider what the assignment means for your team
Hero management is not only a matter of matching powers to tasks. Nintendo says decisions can affect relationships, allegiances, and the story, while heroes have quirks and flaws as well as abilities. Your preferred choice may therefore reflect narrative or team priorities, not just the expected job outcome.
#1 Best Overall
- EASY TO SET UP, EASY TO LEARN: Fire Tower takes seconds to set up and minutes to learn. The game is highly accessible because of its intuitive rules and visual instructions that show how each card works.
- UNIQUE THEME AND GAMEPLAY: Fire Tower brings players into a unique world of competitive firefighting. Use real firefighting techniques to defend your tower from the growing flames and take control of nature to send the fire towards your opponents to claim victory. Each turn, you must spread the fire in the direction of the wind and then play one of your action cards. Extinguish the blaze with fire engines, dispatch smoke jumpers, and build firebreaks. Harness the destructive force of nature to spread the flames away from your tower and towards your opponents.
- STRATEGIC AND FAST-PACED with HIGH REPLAYABILITY: Fire Tower takes 15-30 minutes to play. Every turn is a tense decision, as players must adjust to changing conditions in the forest and the plans of their opponents. Downtime is minimal, and players stay in the game even after their towers are destroyed, continuing to play as the vengeful Shadow of the Wood with special powers and a new path to victory. Try playing free-for-all or battle in teams of two to change up the strategy of the game.
- VIBRANT ARTWORK AND COMPONENTS: The game features original watercolors by fine artist Kevin Ruelle. The vivid colors perfectly match the beautiful, unique components and create a highly tactile experience that fully immerses players in the theme of the game. The game’s deluxe components include 135 glimmering fire gems, a printed cloth bag, custom meeples, an engraved wind die, and more.
- THE PERFECT GIFT: This game is a great gift for gamers, teens, adults and kids. It’s easy to introduce to new players, but has enough strategic depth to engage gamers as well, making it the perfect fit for family game night, Thanksgiving, or your next weekly get-together.
Useful hero recommendations, with limits
The available character-specific advice comes from third-party sources, not an official developer ranking. Treat it as a starting point for early-game decisions rather than a definitive guide to the full release.
Coupé: a provisional generalist
Dispatch Game Guide’s tier list names Coupé as its best all-rounder, but explicitly limits the ranking to Episodes 1–2. That makes Coupé a reasonable candidate when you want flexibility in that early-episode context—not a verified top choice for every emergency or later episode.
Rank #2

Prism: social-facing work
A review describes jobs that call for particular skills and abilities, and cites Prism for influencer, music, and charisma-oriented assignments. That makes Prism a useful example of matching a specialist to the nature of a job rather than relying on one general-purpose pick. Read the review at Rock Paper Shotgun.
Sonar and Golem: guide-listed specialists
The same unofficial tier list recommends Sonar for intellect-heavy situations and Golem for combat. Those are guide suggestions, not developer-confirmed optimal assignments. Use the emergency’s stated needs to decide whether the proposed specialty fits.
Rank #3

Why there is no definitive best-hero ranking
The official descriptions establish that the game asks you to manage heroes and make choices about emergencies, but they do not publish a canonical hero-stat table or a ranking for the current full release. The available tier list is an October 2025 snapshot for Episodes 1–2, and its recommendations are not independently verified as optimal. No published performance statistic in the cited sources establishes which hero succeeds most often.
Accordingly, the practical answer is conditional: choose the hero who fits the current job, take its risks and potential rewards into account, and decide whether relationship or story consequences matter to you. Treat any single “best hero” claim as context-dependent unless it specifies the episode, mission, and source.
