No—not in the official, documented sense of codes that change gameplay. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet do have Mystery Gift codes, but those redeem promotional Pokémon or items; they are not cheat codes. Here’s how to tell the difference and claim a gift.
Are Mystery Gift codes the same as cheat codes?
No. Nintendo documents Mystery Gift as a way to redeem download codes or connect to Nintendo-sponsored events for special Pokémon and items. These are promotional rewards, not codes for altering gameplay. The official documentation describes Mystery Gift, but does not establish whether third-party save editors or exploits exist.
Distributions can be time-limited. Nintendo directs players to Pokémon.com for current or upcoming distribution information, so a code found in an old list may no longer work. Check the official notice for that distribution before trying it. Nintendo’s Mystery Gift instructions
How to redeem a Mystery Gift
Mystery Gift becomes available after you reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos. Nintendo Australia’s guidance says Nintendo Switch Online is not required to receive Mystery Gifts; that guidance applies to receiving these gifts, not to every online feature in the games. Nintendo Australia’s instructions
- Open the in-game X menu.
- Select Poké Portal, then Mystery Gift.
- Choose Get via Internet to search for gifts currently available, or Get with Code/Password to enter a code from a promotion.
- After receiving the gift, save your game.
Where does a received gift go?
- Pokémon: sent to your party if there is room; otherwise, they go to your Boxes.
- Non-fashion items: added to your Bag.
- Fashion items: accessed from the Outfit menu.
If a code is rejected, check that it was entered correctly and that its distribution is still active. The two Mystery Gift options serve different purposes: Internet checks for currently available gifts, while Code/Password is for a specific promotional code.
