Roblox limits a linked parent to one birthday update, and the control cannot change a birthday after the child’s age has been verified with government ID. Use the child’s actual date of birth; Roblox uses it to determine age-related features and settings.
How a parent can change a child’s birthday
- Link your Roblox account to your child’s account.
- Sign in to the parent account and go to Settings > Parental Controls.
- Select your child’s account, then choose the edit control beside the child’s profile.
- Select the birthday control if it is available, enter the child’s actual date of birth, and follow Roblox’s prompts.
Roblox’s age-change instructions state that a linked parent can make this correction once. Depending on the change, Roblox may ask for age verification or parental consent, and additional regional requirements may apply.
What if the birthday option is unavailable?
Roblox says the date cannot be changed through the parental birthday control if its edit arrow is unavailable. The instructions do not describe a workaround; contact Roblox Support for account-specific help. The same limitation applies if the child’s age has already been verified using government-issued ID: a parent cannot then change the birthday through Parental Controls.
Can the account holder correct their own birthday?
Roblox’s instructions for an account holder are to open Settings > Account Info and select the pencil icon beside Birthday. The available correction process may require government ID verification or parental consent, depending on the change. This account-settings route is separate from a parent editing a linked child account.

When ID verification applies
Roblox’s ID Verification guidance says this verification route is for users aged 13 or older who have government-issued photo ID. It is not a general alternative to the linked-parent birthday edit, and regional rules may vary.
Why the birthday should be accurate
Roblox uses the birthdate supplied at signup to determine which features a child can access and when the child turns 13 and may receive broader feature access, according to its Privacy and Cookie Policy. Roblox also says under-13 accounts receive privacy-protective default settings. Correct a mistake to the child’s real birthday rather than using a different date to bypass age-based restrictions.
