Pokémon HOME connects Sword with supported games, but its GO connection moves Pokémon from GO into HOME—not from Sword into GO.
Why Pokémon HOME does not create a Sword-to-GO route
Pokémon HOME is a shared handoff and storage service, but its connections do not make transfers available in every direction. The documented GO transfer runs from GO to HOME. Pokémon sent that way cannot be returned to GO, according to Pokémon Support. HOME’s connection to Sword does not provide a reverse route from a Sword Box into GO.
The Switch version of HOME can connect to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, letting you move compatible Pokémon between a linked game and HOME. That does not make HOME a bridge for sending those Pokémon onward to GO. See Pokémon Support’s instructions for connecting HOME to Sword or Shield.
If you meant moving a Pokémon from GO into Sword
The supported direction is GO → HOME → Sword, subject to the Pokémon’s eligibility. These are the documented steps:

- Check whether the Pokémon can travel to Sword using HOME’s compatibility information.
- In the Nintendo Switch version of HOME, select Pokémon Sword and move the eligible Pokémon into a Box.
Pokémon Support says GO-to-HOME transfers do not require Nintendo Switch Online or a HOME Premium Plan. Sending Pokémon uses GO Transporter Energy; the cost varies by Pokémon. Energy recharges over time, or can be replenished immediately with PokéCoins. The transfer cannot be reversed to return the Pokémon to GO. Check Pokémon Support’s current transfer instructions before sending.
Check compatibility before moving a Pokémon into Sword
Not every Pokémon in HOME can travel to every connected game. In the mobile app, select a Pokémon and check Games it can travel to. In the Switch version, select it, choose Check Summary, and view Connected Games. Pokémon Support notes that its list of Pokémon that can be sent to Sword and Shield may not be exhaustive, so check HOME’s display for the individual Pokémon. See Pokémon HOME game compatibility information.
Rank #2
- New entries in the main series of Pokémon RPGs arrive on Nintendo Switch simultaneously in late 2019
- The Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games take place in the newly discovered Galar Region
- Galar is an expansive region with diverse environments - an idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forest and craggy, snow-covered mountains
- Fans will have the opportunity to visit Gyms in the Galar region in their quest to become Champion
- Newly discovered partner Pokémon join in this new iteration of the games - Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble
There is an additional restriction for certain GO-origin Pokémon: the species may need to have been registered in the Pokédex of the linked Sword or Shield game, or previously obtained in that game, before it can be brought in from GO. Check the Pokémon’s eligibility in HOME rather than assuming that a species supported by Sword can always be transferred from GO.

The mobile version of HOME has Wonder Box, GTS, Room Trade, and Friend Trade, with feature restrictions; creating a Room Trade room requires HOME Premium. These are HOME trading features, not a way to send a Pokémon from a Sword save into Pokémon GO. Pokémon Support explains HOME’s trading features.
