How to check whether another game will work locally
Before choosing a game, match its local capabilities to the session you want. A listing that says “local multiplayer” does not necessarily promise that the campaign supports the same number of people.
- Player count: Confirm the number for the specific local mode—co-op, multiplayer, or campaign—not just the maximum number shown on the product page.
- Play style: Check whether the game is cooperative or competitive, and whether it suits a campaign-length session or brief party rounds.
- Screen format: Look for shared-screen or split-screen support and any visual settings that disable it.
- Group fit: Consider age and content suitability, accessibility for less experienced players, and whether your group prefers relaxed or demanding play.
- Online requirements: Separate features that require an online subscription from local play.
