Household Inventory is storage, not a sale: EA’s April 30, 2019 patch notes say that sending objects there “won’t sell your objects anymore either.” On PC, EA forum users describe dragging a whole stack to the sell area; console instructions are less certain and should not be confused with controls for a Sim’s Personal Inventory.
Household Inventory stores objects; it does not sell them
Household Inventory is the object storage accessed in Build/Buy mode. Moving an object there does not automatically turn it into Simoleons. EA clarified this in its April 30, 2019 patch notes: “On the other hand, sending to Household inventory won’t sell your objects anymore either.”

That distinction matters when clearing out a home: putting something away is not the same action as selling it. Check the selected inventory panel and the action or value shown in-game before confirming anything.
How to sell a Household Inventory stack on PC
An EA forum discussion about moving stacks from Household Inventory describes dragging a stack to the sell area. The discussion also notes that items can be moved out of a stack one at a time. Treat this as community guidance rather than an official guarantee for every object or game version.

- Open Build/Buy mode and select Household Inventory.
- Locate the object or stack you want to sell.
- On PC, try dragging the stack to the sell area, then review the game’s displayed action or value before confirming.
This is a way to sell a stack, not evidence of a command that sells every object in Household Inventory at once.
Console controls: do not assume the Personal Inventory shortcut applies
There is no dependable current control sequence established here for selling stacks from Household Inventory on Xbox or PlayStation. In an EA community discussion about selling inventory stacks on console, an Xbox Y-button tip concerns a Sim’s Personal Inventory; participants distinguish that from the Household Inventory question. Older console reports are not consistent or authoritative enough to promise a universal method.

Personal Inventory belongs to an individual Sim, while Household Inventory is accessed through Build/Buy. A shortcut discussed for one panel should not be treated as a control for the other.

Some objects may not offer a direct sale from Personal Inventory. One EA forum solution gives earbuds and a conservation canoe as examples: place the item on the lot, then sell it from Build Mode. This is a limited example, not a rule for every object in Household Inventory.

Before confirming a sale
- Check whether the selected panel is Household Inventory or a Sim’s Personal Inventory.
- Inspect the action and value the game displays for the selected object or stack.
- If a personal-inventory object cannot be sold there, try placing it on the lot and using Build Mode.
- Do not assume that a stack shortcut sells every item in storage, or that the controls are identical across PC and console.
