Ring all three bells in Black Wind Mountain to unlock Chapter 1’s secret route. Use the shrines Outside the Forest, Snake Trail, and Marsh of the White Mists as your search anchors; the guides report that you can ring the bells in any order. Ringing the final bell transports you to Ancient Guanyin Temple.
How to unlock the Chapter 1 secret area
Find and ring the three bells scattered across Black Wind Mountain. The bells are associated with three shrine areas, making those shrines useful landmarks as you search:

- Outside the Forest: near Guangzhi.
- Snake Trail: near Guangmou.
- Marsh of the White Mists: after the Whiteclad Noble encounter.
Guides report that the bells can be rung in any order. The sequence below is a convenient route through the named landmarks, not a required order. Follow each area until you locate and ring its bell.
- Search the area around the Outside the Forest shrine for the bell near Guangzhi.
- Continue to Snake Trail and find the bell near Guangmou.
- After Whiteclad Noble, search around the Marsh of the White Mists shrine for the remaining bell.
Once all three have been rung, the last bell triggers the transition to the secret area, Ancient Guanyin Temple. These locations and the flexible order are described in Black Myth Guide’s three-bell guide and Game8’s Chapter 1 secret-area guide.

What happens at Ancient Guanyin Temple
Spoilers for the optional route: The temple contains Elder Jinchi. Guides report that defeating him awards the Fireproof Mantle, also called the Fire Mantle in one guide. Before attempting the fight, consider activating or resting at the secret-area shrine; this is a guide recommendation, not a requirement to progress. See Gamer Guides’ Ancient Guanyin Temple walkthrough and Gamerpillar’s walkthrough, published August 20, 2024 for the boss and reward details.
