The optional Chapter 3 Treasure Hunter quest in Black Myth: Wukong ends at the Melon Field—sometimes described by players as the “Watermelon Cave.” Help the Treasure Hunter near Bitter Lake, warm him with Ring of Fire in the Valley of Ecstasy, then reach the Melon Field Shrine and defeat the Green-Capped Martialist to earn Spell Binder.
Where is the Treasure Hunter?
You meet him twice before reaching the Melon Field. Start at the North Shore of Bitter Lake in Chapter 3.

- From the North Shore shrine, follow the route toward the gate and beach area. The Treasure Hunter is under attack; defeat his attackers.
- Speak to him after the fight and continue through his dialogue until he has nothing more to say. Local landmark descriptions vary between walkthroughs, so stay in the North Shore area and follow the path if a turn does not match your route.
- Later, find him by a tree in the Towers of Karma area of the Valley of Ecstasy. Speak with him again.
What do I do when the Treasure Hunter says he’s cold?
Equip Ring of Fire if it is not already available in your spell loadout, then cast it near the Treasure Hunter. Allow the scene to play and speak to him again until his dialogue is exhausted. This advances the quest and directs you toward the Melon Field.
How do I find the Melon Field?
Use the Brook of Bliss route to reach the Melon Field Shrine:

- Travel to the Brook of Bliss shrine in the Valley of Ecstasy.
- Cross the bridge and descend to the water below.
- Follow the stream to its end, then look for the path going down near the cliff.
- Continue down until you reach the Melon Field Shrine. Guides describe the nearby landmarks differently, but agree on this lower route from Brook of Bliss.
How do I get Spell Binder?
Prepare before leaving the Melon Field Shrine: approaching the large Buddha statue in the area triggers the Green-Capped Martialist encounter. Defeat him to complete the Treasure Hunter quest and receive Spell Binder.
Spell Binder changes your combat options: it gives up access to other spellcasting in exchange for increased Attack. It is a loadout trade-off, not a universally superior spell. A community wiki also reports Cold Iron Leaves x2 as a drop, but that item detail is less firmly sourced than the quest reward.

What Spell Binder changes
The reward is useful if you want to build around stronger direct attacks rather than using your other spells. Consider your current loadout before switching to it; the Attack increase comes with the cost of losing access to other spellcasting options.
