Skull Orchid is at the end of Embossed Fault, an Abandoned Auger Mine in Grindstone of the Worthy, Carcadia Burn. Complete the main mission Shadow of the Mountain to unlock the mine. Its listed dedicated drops are the Roach pistol, Oak-Aged Cask shield, and Faulty Detonator grenade ordnance.
Where to find Skull Orchid
Travel to the Grindstone of the Worthy fast-travel point in Carcadia Burn. The entrance to the Abandoned Auger Mine is just south of the point; enter Embossed Fault and follow it to the end to reach Skull Orchid. The boss is in Carcadia Burn, not Terminus Range. Complete the main mission Shadow of the Mountain to access the Abandoned Auger Mines. If the entrance is unavailable, check your mission progress before looking for another route.

The three items and percentages are listed in Lootlemon’s Skull Orchid database. These are third-party database figures, not individual rates published by Gearbox. Game8’s boss guide and Lootlemon include Faulty Detonator; some third-party summary lists leave it out.

In its March 5, 2026 update notes, Borderlands Support said dedicated loot reward chances were standardized across base-game bosses, Bounty Packs, and Invincible encounters. The notes do not state Skull Orchid’s individual percentage, and explicitly say the change did not affect Phosophene drop rates.
How to farm Skull Orchid
- Complete Shadow of the Mountain to unlock the Abandoned Auger Mines.
- Fast-travel to Grindstone of the Worthy in Carcadia Burn, then enter the mine just south of the point.
- Follow Embossed Fault to the end and defeat Skull Orchid.
- Use the nearby Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine to reset the encounter and fight again. The current cost is not established by the cited route sources, so check the machine’s displayed price in your game.
Mobalytics’ route guide describes the Encore reset. The Big Encore listing has a higher per-item chance than Lootlemon’s base figure, but that comparison is from the database and does not account for your time, kill speed, or access to the mine.

Game8 describes Skull Orchid as having a flesh health bar and recommends incendiary damage. The guide also advises clearing the summoned swarms and aiming at the tongue, which it identifies as a weak point. These are the guide’s recommendations, not independently verified combat tests.
