Clan donations are for reinforcements—troops, spells, and Siege Machines—not resource loot.
What “loot” and “donations” mean in Clash of Clans
Loot is the Gold, Elixir, and Dark Elixir you collect by attacking opponents’ resource buildings. Supercell’s Loot and Star Bonus support page explains that these resources go to your own stores and that the amount available to take is limited by game rules.
A Clan donation is different: it sends eligible reinforcements to a Clanmate’s Clan Castle in response to a request. Supercell’s Clan Castle Troops & Spells guidance covers troops and spells; Siege Machines are another donation category. The official guidance describes no feature for gifting resource balances between players.

Supercell’s support guidance says you need Town Hall 8, a level 4 Clan Castle, and Clan membership to donate troops and spells. Select eligible units for a Clanmate’s request; what can be sent depends on the request, available Clan Castle housing space, and recipient restrictions.

Siege Machines
Players can receive donated Siege Machines from Town Hall 10 with a level 6 Clan Castle. The support page lists a request limit of one at Town Hall 10/Clan Castle 6 and two at Town Hall 16/Clan Castle 12. Donated Siege Machines cannot defend the recipient’s Village.
Why donations can look like resource gifting
Sending reinforcements uses in-game value, but that value pays the cost of the donation; it does not arrive in the recipient’s resource stores. Supercell’s Welcome to Clash Anytime Update! release notes state that troop and spell donations spend Elixir or Dark Elixir, depending on the unit. The support instructions also show a Gems option in the donation interface. Neither option transfers those resources as loot.

What about donating to yourself with Raid Medals?
Supercell’s Clan Capital & The Forge update describes using Raid Medals to fill your own Clan Castle request with troops, including Super Troops, spells, or a Siege Machine. That is self-donation of reinforcements—not a way to send Gold, Elixir, or Dark Elixir to another player.
