Pokémon HOME does not guarantee that a hacked Pokémon can be deposited or kept safely. Pokémon Support acknowledges that users have used HOME with altered data, but warns of possible HOME restrictions and mobile-app problems. Its notices do not explain how individual Pokémon are assessed or promise that any specific one will be accepted or remain safe.
What Pokémon Support says about altered data
In its notice dated January 30, 2026, Pokémon Support says it is aware of users playing Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield and using Pokémon HOME with altered data. The notice describes potential penalties for users found to be using altered data or engaging in troublesome behavior; it does not say that every person who unknowingly receives an altered Pokémon will be penalized.

The listed measures include restrictions on online play in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, limits on mobile HOME trading features, and suspension of both the Switch and mobile versions of HOME. Measures may be temporary or indefinite at The Pokémon Company’s discretion. The company says it may apply additional restrictions without notice and will not issue refunds or repayments. It also says it cannot respond to inquiries about the specifics of infractions or measures. Read Pokémon Support’s full notice on data altered via unauthorized means.
Could a hacked Pokémon make the mobile app freeze?
Yes. Pokémon Support says altered-data Pokémon deposited in the mobile version of HOME may cause freezing or display problems when you view Pokémon details in Boxes or use GTS or Wonder Trade. The company says it does not provide support for issues arising from Pokémon with altered data. The notice describes possible app effects, not a guaranteed outcome for every altered Pokémon. See Pokémon Support’s notice about mobile HOME freezing and display issues.

Does being stored in HOME mean it can move into a game?
No. Storage, acceptance by HOME, and transfer into a destination game are separate questions. Pokémon HOME’s official service information says Pokémon can only be moved into games in which they appear. That compatibility rule does not establish that a Pokémon with altered data will pass HOME checks or be transferable. The service information may change without notice. Check Pokémon HOME’s official storage and transfer information.
