Is The Regal Update free?
Yes. The update is available at no additional cost to people who own BALL x PIT; it is not a free standalone version of the game. The official announcements document its availability on Steam and PS5. The PlayStation Blog described it as free for all players on PS5, while Steam announced the free update for owners. What does The Regal Update add?
Two playable characters
- The Falconer: Two birds launch balls from the sides, changing how attacks approach enemies.
- The Carouser: A personal gravity field alters the paths of returning shots.

Eight balls and three passives
The update adds eight balls; the developer’s announcement names Banished Flame, Fireworks, Stone Ball, Brimstone Ball, and Landslide as examples, not as the complete set. It also adds three passives:
- Deadeye’s Impaler raises critical-hit potential and instantly kills non-boss enemies when a critical hit lands.
- Grotesque Artillery fires a random ball from the equipped lineup when it triggers.
- Iron Onesie increases special-ball damage based on how many baby balls are bouncing around.
How do you unlock Endless Mode?
Finish the game. After that, Endless Mode lets you continue beyond a level boss by choosing to descend further. The level can continue indefinitely, but surviving becomes the challenge as difficulty escalates. It is therefore an endgame mode, not an option available immediately to a new player.
