What’s in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7?
Larian’s PC release announcement highlighted several changes, including new cinematics for evil endings, Honour Mode improvements with new Legendary Actions, split-screen improvements, bug fixes and the in-game Mod Manager. The patch was approximately 11.6 GB, and Larian said installation required 160 GB of free space. How did the official mod support work?
Patch 7 added an in-game Mod Manager for browsing and installing supported mods and managing installed ones. Larian’s official pipeline used mod.io to host and distribute mods and related documentation. It was intended to make approved mods easier to find and use, including across platforms, but it did not make every PC mod available everywhere. Larian Community Update #27

Creating mods with the Toolkit
Larian offered the official creation Toolkit as a free, separate Steam application for PC. It could be used to create content such as weapons and armor, classes and subclasses, spells, and dice skins. The Toolkit itself was not available for Mac or consoles.
Larian’s support FAQ lists a 64-bit Windows PC and 160 GB of free space as Toolkit requirements. Its recommended specifications are Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i7 8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32 GB RAM, an Nvidia 2060 Super or AMD RX 5700 XT with at least 8 GB VRAM, and DirectX 11. Using third-party mods
The official pipeline did not prevent players from modding outside it. However, Larian said it would officially support mods published through mod.io; third-party mods might not appear in the in-game browser and could have compatibility issues. Can you use PC mods on console or Mac?
Some supported mods could reach console and Mac through the in-game browser, but cross-platform access was curated. Larian said mods had to be made and uploaded with its Toolkit and pass internal testing to be eligible for console and Mac. As a result, eligibility did not guarantee availability on every platform, and some PC mods would not be offered there. Larian Community Update #29

Keep multiplayer mod lists aligned
For modded multiplayer, Larian’s support FAQ says every participant needs exactly the same mods and versions. Disabling some mods can affect existing saves, so check a save’s mod requirements before changing its setup. Larian’s mod support FAQ
Early adoption figures
In its October 1, 2024 update, Larian reported more than 1,000 mods uploaded and over 15 million downloads. Those are figures reported at that time, not current totals. Larian Community Update #29
