Bunny and crafting special items from them. Its dates can change from year to year, so treat past schedules as examples—not a permanent calendar.
What is Bunny Day?
Bunny Day is a seasonal event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nintendo describes its central activities as searching for eggs hidden around the game by Zipper T. Bunny and using those eggs to craft special event items. It is an in-game event, not a separate game or a requirement to buy a real-world Easter product.
When does Bunny Day happen?
There is no single date range established as the permanent schedule. Nintendo’s announcements show different timing in different years:

For a current-year schedule, check Nintendo’s announcement for that year rather than assuming the event always starts on a particular April date. An official Play Nintendo poll asks, “What’s your favorite way to find eggs on Bunny Day?” Its page mentions celebrating on April 5 but does not clearly identify the year, so that date should not be treated as a current schedule. What do you do during the event?
- Look for eggs. Search your island for the eggs hidden as part of the event.
- Collect them for crafting. Eggs are the event materials used to make special Bunny Day items.
- See Zipper on Bunny Day. In Nintendo’s 2021 announcement, Zipper offered trading and rewards on that year’s Bunny Day, April 4. The date is a historical example, not a guarantee for another year.
Do you need a particular game edition or accessory?
You need Animal Crossing: New Horizons to play the event. Nintendo lists the game for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. If you already own a compatible copy, the event description does not indicate that you need to buy another game. Switch 2 players can choose the Switch 2 Edition; Nintendo also describes an upgrade-pack path for people who already own the Switch game. Nintendo’s game page
The Switch 2 Edition adds features such as mouse controls, a built-in-microphone megaphone, online sessions for up to 12 players, and optional CameraPlay with a compatible USB-C camera sold separately. These are platform features, not documented Bunny Day requirements. You do not need a camera to find eggs or craft event items. Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition feature details

Event timing and seasonal shop details are date-sensitive, so use current Nintendo announcements and support information for the year you are playing. Nintendo Support’s retrieved update page listed version 3.0.3 as released April 29, 2026, and version 3.0.2 as released April 13, 2026. Those are update records, not a Bunny Day schedule or a stated special-version requirement for the event; check Nintendo Support for the latest version information.
