Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteEA’s October 2025 Battlefield 6 community update paired two distinct plans: reduce the share of Portal community-server capacity used by XP farms, and make ordinary progression smoother. It raised match-completion and daily XP, reduced XP requirements for early attachment ranks, and lowered career-rank gates for assignments. Later 2026 updates changed progression further, so the October figures are not a complete description of the game today.
What EA said about Portal XP farms
In its October 2025 community update, EA said many Portal community servers were being used primarily to earn XP, inflate stats, and collect accolades by defeating bots. The team said that concentration made it harder for players to create and find other community experiences. Its stated aim was to reduce XP farms taking up server space while keeping custom and verified experiences available for people who wanted to play together.
EA also warned that a backend maintenance update would require experiences to be republished before their hosts could create active servers. The team targeted the changes for the following week, subject to testing and verification. That was a planned adjustment and timeframe—not a published, server-by-server table of XP rules.

- Assignment career-rank gates: the three gates moved from ranks 20, 23, and 26 to ranks 10, 15, and 20, respectively.
These are the values announced by EA in 2025, not independently measured progression-time results. The percentage increases describe XP or bonus values, while “almost twice as fast” was EA’s description of access to useful attachments—not a claim that every part of the game became twice as fast.
How progression changed again in 2026
Later official updates added changes beyond the October announcement. Keep them separate when comparing how quickly Battlefield 6 progression works:

| Update | Progression change stated by EA | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| March 2026, update 1.2.2.0 | Revised XP curve; sidearm rank XP requirements reduced by an average of 60%. | EA said early ranks were about twice as fast and the full curve about 15% faster. These are EA’s descriptions of the revised curve. |
| April 2026, update 1.2.3.0 | Weapon and Vehicle XP began rewarding active use as well as kills and assists; Multiplayer XP rates rose slightly. | EA did not give a precise percentage for the Multiplayer increase in the cited notes. Battle Royale and Gauntlet progression shifted toward time spent in a match. |
For the March changes, see EA’s update 1.2.2.0 notes; the April changes are in the update 1.2.3.0 notes. Together, these updates show that the 2025 progression figures were one stage in an ongoing set of adjustments, not the final curve.
Did EA announce a new XP-farm crackdown in October 2026?
No new broad crackdown is announced in the official context cited here. EA’s September 2026 update 1.4.3.0 notes include Portal and custom-lobby improvements, but do not announce a new general XP-farm crackdown. EA’s October 1, 2026 first-year look-ahead says progression had become faster over the game’s first year. Neither statement turns the October 2025 plan into a new October 2026 announcement.

Do Portal servers still give XP?
The cited official notes do not establish exact current XP multipliers or eligibility rules for every Portal experience. They also do not support saying that all Portal XP is disabled, or assigning a specific current XP rate to bot servers. The 2025 update addressed the concentration of XP-farm servers and the space they occupied; it did not provide a comprehensive current policy table for every server type.
For players, the practical distinction is between two systems: changes to progression speed in regular modes, and changes intended to manage community experiences and XP-farm incentives in Portal. The official updates document several progression improvements, but the precise rewards available from a particular Portal experience cannot be inferred from those announcements alone.
