Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 was announced for September 2024, but Larian did not give a specific day in its initial release-window announcement. It went live on PC on September 5, 2024, then rolled out to Mac and consoles on October 1 after additional technical checks.
When did Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 release?
On June 3, 2024, Larian said Patch 7 was coming in September. That was a month-long target, not a confirmed release date. The studio planned a two-stage testing process: a closed alpha with mod authors followed by a closed beta for PC players. Larian’s Community Update #27 introduced the timing and testing plan.
Larian announced Patch 7 as live for PC on September 5, 2024. Console and Mac players had to wait: Larian said those versions needed further technical checks and were expected in October. On October 1, the studio confirmed the rollout to console and Mac.
What Patch 7 added
Official modding support
Patch 7 brought official mod support, including a Toolkit for creators. The Toolkit is a separate free application on Steam for Windows PC; it is not available for Mac or consoles. Larian support lists 160 GB of available space as a requirement for using it. This is a mod-creation tool, distinct from simply using supported mods in the game.

New evil-ending cinematics
The update added new cinematic scenes for evil playthroughs, expanding the conclusions available to players who pursue darker choices.
Co-op, Honour Mode, and fixes
Larian also highlighted dynamic split-screen, which can merge the two views when co-op players are near each other, additional Legendary Actions for Honour Mode, and bug fixes. The feature list appeared in Larian’s announcement that the patch was live.

What to know before using mods
- Modded multiplayer: Everyone in a party needs to use the same mods at the same versions.
- Cross-saves: A save may be affected if the platforms involved are running different game versions. This matters when one platform has received an update before another.
- Toolkit platform: The creator Toolkit is for Windows PC, not Mac or consoles; console and Mac players should not mistake the PC creation tool for an available Toolkit on their platform.
Larian’s September 5 announcement said Patch 7 was approximately 11.6 GB on PC and required 160 GB of free space to install. Those figures were the studio’s historical installation guidance for that patch, not a statement of the game’s current full size.
