For a strong all-purpose Minecraft bow, use Power V, Unbreaking III, Flame I, Punch II, and either Infinity I or Mending. Choose Infinity to conserve normal arrows; choose Mending to repair the bow with experience. The Minecraft Wiki guide recommends this combination, while official references describe the enchantments’ effects and level caps.

Punch II: add knockback
Punch increases the knockback from an arrow, up to level II. The extra distance can help keep a threat away, but it can also push a target out of the position you want—for example, away from a follow-up attack.
Infinity or Mending: which should you choose?
The choice is between arrow economy and repairing the bow with experience. The Minecraft Wiki guide presents Infinity and Mending as mutually exclusive alternatives.

| Enchantment | What it does | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Infinity I | Prevents normal arrows from being consumed, according to Minecraft Help and Microsoft Learn. | You want to conserve normal arrows. |
| Mending | Repairs the item using experience orbs, according to Minecraft Help and Microsoft Learn. | You want experience to help maintain the bow’s durability. |
Both official references describe Infinity’s effect in terms of normal arrows; do not read that as a claim that every arrow type is covered. The cited descriptions do not provide a broader arrow-type comparison.

Microsoft Learn labels its enchantment reference for Bedrock stable, while Minecraft Help gives general enchantment descriptions and caps. The cited guide supports the recommended combination but does not establish a complete, current Java-versus-Bedrock comparison or identify the exact game version for every mechanic. If you are checking a version-specific edge case, consult documentation for that edition and version rather than assuming the general recommendation settles it.
