Battlefield 6 requires Secure Boot to play on PC, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 requires both Secure Boot and TPM 2.0. That means Black Ops 7 is not merely “next”: Activision has already documented the requirements, and its September 2025 beta announcement stated them as well. These are PC requirements; the cited guidance does not apply them to console versions.
Which security settings do the games require?
| Game | PC requirement | Official guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Battlefield 6 | Secure Boot | EA’s Secure Boot information and EA’s launch guide |
| Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 | Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 | Activision’s support guide; the September 2025 beta announcement also stated both requirements |
Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 are separate checks. Turning on one does not automatically enable or satisfy the other. EA describes Secure Boot as a Windows 10/11 security feature that ensures only safe software is loaded during startup; EA presents it as part of Battlefield 6’s security and anti-cheat effort, not as a guarantee that cheating or other threats will be eliminated.
How do I check whether Secure Boot is enabled?
First check Windows before changing firmware settings. Windows provides a status view through System Information; TPM status can be checked separately using the TPM management console. Names and screens can vary somewhat by Windows version.
- Open Start, search for System Information, and open the app. Find Secure Boot State in the System Summary. If it says On, Secure Boot is enabled; if it says Off, it is not currently enabled.
- To check TPM separately, press Win + R, enter tpm.msc, and press Enter. Check the status and specification version shown in the TPM Management window. Black Ops 7’s stated requirement is TPM 2.0, not merely the presence of any TPM.
- If either status is unclear or unavailable, identify your PC model or, for a custom-built PC, the motherboard model. Use that manufacturer’s current support documentation before changing firmware settings.
How do I enable Secure Boot for Battlefield 6?
There is no universal BIOS recipe. Firmware menus, labels, prerequisites, and available options differ between PC and motherboard manufacturers. Activision directs users to their official PC or motherboard documentation for BIOS instructions; its guide also notes that a firmware update can be relevant in some cases.

- Find the manufacturer’s official instructions for your exact PC or motherboard model and firmware. Follow those steps to enter firmware setup and locate the Secure Boot setting.
- Use the manufacturer’s guidance to check any prerequisites and enable Secure Boot. Do not assume that a setting with a similar name is interchangeable, or change unrelated boot settings without understanding the consequences.
- Save and exit only as directed by the manufacturer, then return to Windows and check Secure Boot State in System Information again.
- For Black Ops 7, confirm TPM 2.0 separately as well. Enabling Secure Boot alone does not meet Activision’s full requirement.
An incorrect firmware change can cause boot problems, so avoid copying instructions for a different motherboard or PC. If the manufacturer’s guide does not match the menus on screen, stop and contact that manufacturer’s support rather than guessing.
Why does Battlefield 6 say Secure Boot is not enabled?
Windows may report Secure Boot as off, or the game may continue to flag it after a change. Start with the Windows status rather than repeatedly changing firmware options. If System Information still shows Off, the change may not have taken effect or the platform may need a manufacturer-specific prerequisite. If Windows shows On but the game still reports a problem, consult EA’s Secure Boot guidance and the PC or motherboard manufacturer’s documentation for model-specific troubleshooting.

Whether the setting is available and how to configure it depend on the computer’s hardware and firmware.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why do the requirements differ?
EA’s published Battlefield 6 requirement names Secure Boot. Activision’s Call of Duty guidance for Black Ops 7 names both Secure Boot and TPM 2.0. Treat each game’s official requirements as its own checklist; one game’s requirement does not establish the other’s. EA’s October 7, 2025 launch information reiterates the PC-specific Secure Boot requirement for Battlefield 6, while Activision’s guide and the September 2025 beta announcement establish the Black Ops 7 requirements.
