Which game should you choose?
Choose Ready or Not for SWAT-style room clearing
PlayStation’s PS5 listing for Ready or Not describes tactical breaches, rules of engagement and missions where decisions carry consequences. It lists co-op for up to five online players and crossplay on all platforms, making it the clearest match here for a group that wants coordinated close-quarters operations. Its subject matter is bleak and its violence intense, so it may not suit every group.

Choose GROUND BRANCH for customizable special-operations play
GROUND BRANCH’s official feature page emphasizes player-customized tactical gear, positional voice and radio communication, and maps with both close-quarters and outdoor areas. That combination makes it a better fit for a squad that wants to build its loadouts and coordinate deliberately rather than focus only on room clearing. The page describes eight-player co-op, but the game’s FAQ makes an important capacity distinction below.
Consider Zero Hour if your group is larger
The Xbox listing for Zero Hour specifies online co-op for 2–10 players, alongside solo play with AI squadmates and Xbox cross-platform co-op. The 10-player ceiling makes it a candidate when a typical small team is not enough. Treat those as Xbox-listed details, not a guarantee that another platform has the same player count or crossplay setup.

- EXPANSIVE CAMPAIGN: Many real-world locations have been captured using photogrammetry to recreate a living, immersive environment, and multiple infiltration and extraction points and kill list targets provide a whole new perspective on each mission. Take on the Nazi plot solo or work with a partner, with improved co-op mechanics allowing you to share ammo and items, give orders and heal each other.
- ADVANCED GUNPLAY PHYSICS AND TRAVERSAL: Use ziplines, slide down slopes and shimmy along ledges to reach the perfect vantage point, or to sneak past a sharp-eyed lookout. Factor in rifle stock and barrel options along with gravity, wind and heart rate while you line up your sights on the target.
- HIGH CALIBRE CUSTOMISATION: Use workbenches to customise and upgrade virtually every aspect of your weapon – change scopes, stocks, barrels, magazines and more. Rifles, secondaries and pistols all have a huge variety of options. On top of that you can select the ammo to suit your target, from armour-piercing right down to non-lethal.
- INVASION MODE – CAMPAIGN DROP IN PvP AND CO-OP: Invade another player’s Campaign as an Axis sniper and engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, providing a new dimension to the challenge as you stalk your prey. Alternatively, as Karl you can call for assistance and have a second sniper drop in to help you out of a tricky situation.
- TENSE ADVERSIAL MULTIPLAYER: Customise your character and loadout and earn XP, medals and ribbons as you take on intensely competitive 16 player battles that will really test your sharpshooting skills. If co-op’s more your style, you can team up with up to 3 other players against waves of enemies in Survival mode.
Choose Ghost Recon Breakpoint for an open-world campaign
Ubisoft’s 2019 launch announcement says the campaign can be played solo or with up to four players in co-op. That makes Breakpoint the open-world option in this group, rather than a dedicated SWAT room-clearing choice. Because the cited statement dates to launch, check current platform availability and online services before making plans around it.

GROUND BRANCH’s official sources use two different figures for different contexts: its feature page describes eight-player co-op, while its FAQ says current multiplayer supports 16 players and an eight-player co-op maximum is intended. Those figures should not be treated as interchangeable. The FAQ also says the game’s V1.0 release was July 16, 2026, and that Windows PC is the only platform the developer can commit to. Check the official GROUND BRANCH FAQ for the developer’s current wording.

Match the game to your group before buying
- Start with the mission style. Pick Ready or Not for SWAT operations, GROUND BRANCH for customizable special-operations play, or Breakpoint for an open-world campaign.
- Count the players who will actually join. The listed capacities differ, and some figures apply to a particular platform or distinguish co-op from broader multiplayer.
- Confirm platform compatibility. The sourced crossplay claims are specific: PlayStation describes Ready or Not crossplay on all platforms, while Xbox lists Zero Hour cross-platform co-op on Xbox. Do not assume either statement answers every platform-specific question.
- Decide how much coordination you want. GROUND BRANCH explicitly highlights positional voice and radio; the other games’ cited pages support their co-op descriptions but do not establish equivalent communication features.
- Check current availability and online services. Store listings and launch announcements can become stale; confirm the details for your platform and region before purchasing.
