If you want Greek mythology woven into the game itself, start with Hades: its Underworld setting and repeat escape attempts make myth central to both story and gameplay. For open-world exploration, choose Immortals Fenyx Rising; for a historical Ancient Greece adventure with mythic elements, choose Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Hades II is another option if you want a follow-up roguelike.

Hades: the strongest pick for myth as the main event
In Hades, you play as Zagreus attempting to escape the Underworld. Supergiant Games describes it as a rogue-like dungeon crawler, and its FAQ explains that each escape attempt combines Olympian powers with your own while the story develops across repeated runs. That structure makes the mythology more than a backdrop: the gods, the Underworld, and the repeated attempts are all part of the premise and play loop.
Supergiant calls it “a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you defy the god of the dead as you hack and slash your way out of the Underworld of Greek myth.” The PlayStation US listing identifies PS4 and PS5 versions. Confirm current availability and the edition shown in your region’s store.

Immortals Fenyx Rising: mythic open-world exploration
Immortals Fenyx Rising is an action-adventure built around Greek mythology. Ubisoft’s game page describes mythological beasts, the powers of gods, and seven regions inspired by gods. Ubisoft News also describes the game as drawing on Greek legends, heroes, and gods.
Choose it if you want to travel through a myth-forward world rather than make repeated dungeon runs or explore a primarily historical setting. Ubisoft’s feature on the game’s development discusses the narrative work of Jeffrey Yohalem, its narrative director and lead writer, and the game’s use of Greek legends. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: history first, mythology alongside it
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey takes place in 431 BCE during the Peloponnesian War between Sparta and Athens. Ubisoft’s game-system overview sets the adventure in that conflict, while Ubisoft and PlayStation describe a world that also includes myths and legends. It is the best fit here if you want an Ancient Greece adventure grounded in a historical setting rather than a full fantasy retelling.
The mythic element becomes more direct in the The Fate of Atlantis expansion, which takes players into mythological realms. Its Torment of Hades episode opens the way to the Underworld, as described by Ubisoft News. The PlayStation US listing lists a PS4 version; check your local storefront for current editions and add-on requirements.
