To beat Glissando in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, use Ice or Dark damage, avoid Earth and Light, and respond to each attack differently: dodge or parry the two-hit head strike, dodge the three-hit tail combo, jump each Ballet sweep, and defend against the third charm pulse. Glissando’s swallow cannot be dodged according to encounter guides; build Break pressure so you can break the boss and free the captured character.
Where to find Glissando
Glissando is a required Act 2 boss in Sirene, near the Crumbling Path Flag. The fight blocks the route onward toward Sirene and the Axon. Because the game does not provide a minimap or in-game coordinates, use that Expedition Flag as your navigation landmark. The Expedition 33 Wiki guide and Gamepressure’s Glissando guide identify the encounter’s location and progression role.

Prepare for the matchup
- Choose Ice or Dark attacks. Glissando is weak to both and resists Earth and Light, according to the Expedition 33 Wiki guide.
- Consider Sciel if she is available. Gamepressure highlights her multi-hit Dark skills as a useful option; this is a suggestion, not a required party composition.
- Equip Anti-Charm Lumina if you have it. The guides say it can prevent the charm status. It becomes available after the earlier Tisseur encounter.
- Keep Break pressure available. Glissando can swallow a party member at low health. Breaking or stunning the boss makes it release the captured character, so do not spend every Break-capable action before that phase.
Neither guide establishes a universally best party or a fixed level requirement, so prioritize the tools your current team has rather than waiting for a particular build.
How to answer each Glissando attack
| Attack | What to watch for | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Head strike | Glissando raises or pulls back its head, then attacks twice. | Parry for a counter if you know the timing; dodge if you need a more forgiving window. |
| Tail combo | Three hits: two swipes followed by a heavier finish. | Dodge through the full sequence. Do not treat the first movement as the only hit. |
| Ballet summons | The Ballet enemies sweep the party in three attacks. | Jump for each indicated sweep rather than relying on one defense for the entire sequence. |
| Charm or enchantment | Three rhythmic pulses; the third is the one that connects and can charm a party member into attacking the party. | Parry or dodge the third pulse. Anti-Charm Lumina can prevent the status if equipped. |
| Devouring or swallow | At low health, Glissando takes one party member off the battlefield. Encounter guides describe the move as unavoidable. | Keep attacking and build Break pressure; breaking or stunning Glissando releases the character. |
These cues and responses are reported by the Expedition 33 Wiki and Gamepressure. Treat the move sequence as a guide to what to watch for, not a claim that every animation or timing will look identical in every fight.

When to parry and when to dodge
PlayStation’s official combat overview explains the general trade-off: dodging has a larger timing window, while parrying requires more precise timing. Parrying every hit in an enemy combo can trigger a counterattack.
- Dodge when you are still learning a rhythm or want the more forgiving defense. It is the recommended response to Glissando’s tail sequence.
- Parry when you have learned the timing and want the counter opportunity. It is an option for the head strike and the charm move’s final pulse.
- Jump for the Ballet summons’ sweeping attacks; use the defense called for by the move rather than assuming a dodge or parry works for every attack.
What rewards do the guides list?
The listed rewards differ in detail. The Expedition 33 Wiki guide lists Colour of Lumina and Chroma Catalyst. Gamepressure lists 43,248 XP, 2,820 Chroma, a Sirene outfit for Lune, and a Resplendent Chroma Catalyst. These are the guides’ respective lists, not a single reconciled reward table.
