To beat the optional Chromatic Troubadour in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, find it in Flying Waters during Act 2, use Light damage if available, and avoid Dark attacks. Dodge while you learn its animations; parrying an entire combo is harder, but a successful full-combo parry can open a counterattack.
Where to find Chromatic Troubadour
Chromatic Troubadour is an optional encounter in Flying Waters, in Act 2. To reach it, start at the Lumieran Streets flag and follow the nearby landmarks: hug the left wall to find handholds, climb, continue past the Cruler, use the grapple point, go around the building, then descend toward the boss. These directions are more useful than coordinates: the game has no minimap or in-game coordinate system. The route is described in Syphos’s GameFAQs location guide.

What damage to use
The community-maintained Expedition 33 Wiki encounter guide lists Chromatic Troubadour as weak to Light and resistant to Dark. Choose Light damage when your party has access to it, and do not make Dark damage the basis of your plan. The available matchup information does not establish other weaknesses or resistances.
How to handle its attacks
There is no verified boss-specific move list or reliable attack-by-attack timing guide in the available sources, so do not rely on a promised combo count or named attack cue. Watch the Troubadour’s animations and respond to the sequence you see in your own fight. The enemy is also described as capable of disrupting the party, making careful defense useful even when you are not taking a large amount of damage.

Dodge while learning
PlayStation’s combat overview says dodge has a larger timing window than parry and avoids the incoming hit. If you are still learning an animation, prioritize a clean dodge instead of forcing a counter.
Parry for a possible counter
Parry requires tighter timing. According to the same PlayStation overview, perfectly parrying an entire combo can allow a counterattack. Treat that as a higher-risk option: attempt it when you recognize the sequence, rather than assuming every successful individual parry will trigger a counter.

Use free aim only when you can identify a target
The game supports free-aim targeting of weak points as part of its general combat system, as described on the official Clair Obscur website. No cited source confirms a particular weak-point location on Chromatic Troubadour, so aim only at a point you can actually identify in the encounter rather than assuming a specific target.
