What is Cogfly?
Cogfly is a community-made utility for managing Silksong mods; it is not an official Team Cherry product. The project’s release history documents ongoing development, including changes related to mod management, profiles, and launch options. The release page captured for this article includes a v1.2.5 entry, but it does not establish a dependable release year or a current compatibility matrix. Check the release page for the version and platform details that apply when you download it.
The feature descriptions below come from the Hollow Knight Wiki’s Cogfly page, rather than independent testing. The page describes a mod catalog hosted on Thunderstore, dependency downloads for most mods, search and sorting, profile import and export, automatic updates, and shortcuts to the game’s save and log folders. Mod availability and individual features can change, so consult the project release information before relying on a particular option.
How do you install Silksong mods with Cogfly?
The wiki’s setup description gives this general sequence. Menu names and behavior may differ between releases, so use the current app and release documentation if a step does not match what you see.

- Download Cogfly from its GitHub releases page.
- Open the app and check the detected game location. If it does not find Silksong automatically, select the game’s installation path.
- Confirm the location where Cogfly will store profiles.
- Create a profile, then use the mod search or catalog to select mods. Cogfly is described as downloading dependencies for most mods, but that does not guarantee every mod’s requirements will be handled automatically.
- Launch the selected profile from Cogfly.
How do Cogfly profiles work?
A profile is a separately named collection of mod settings, useful for keeping different mod combinations apart. According to the wiki, profiles can be customized, duplicated, imported or exported, and added as desktop shortcuts. That lets you maintain distinct setups without treating every installed mod as part of one permanent configuration.
The same page describes sorting and search options, automatic mod updates, and shortcuts to save and log folders. These are source-reported features; check the installed release to confirm which are available and how they are labeled.

How do you launch vanilla Silksong from Cogfly?
Cogfly is described as offering a launch option for the unmodified game as well as launches for selected mod profiles. Choose the vanilla or unmodded launch option in the app rather than a profile with mods enabled. The available label and exact behavior are not specified in the wiki description, so consult the current release notes if you cannot identify the option.

The name refers to more than one thing. The downloadable Cogfly is the unofficial mod manager described above. In Silksong, a Cogfly is also a virtual Red Tool Hornet deploys to attack nearby enemies; the game wiki says it is obtained at a crafting bench in High Halls. See the wiki entry for the in-game Cogfly for that item.

CogniFly is different again: it is a drone research project, not a game mod or item. Its paper reports a sub-250 g quadcopter prototype, collision survival up to 7 m/s under the reported test conditions, and approximately 17 minutes of flight in the paper’s setup.
