Frank the Furnace is fought with Hank the Welder and Sal the Engineer as the Foundry Freaks at The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site in Idolator’s Noose, in the Fadefields. Clear the Ripper waves to start the boss fight; afterward, Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the arena lets you pay for another attempt. The trio’s listed legendary drops are Chuck, Bloody Lumberjack, and Chaumurky.

Where to find Frank the Furnace

Travel to the Fadefields, then head to Idolator’s Noose and The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site. Frank does not appear as a separate boss encounter: he arrives with Hank the Welder and Sal the Engineer as the Foundry Freaks. Guides from Game8 and Mobalytics place the trio at this drill site.

How to trigger and repeat the fight

  1. Enter The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site in Idolator’s Noose.
  2. Clear the waves of Rippers. The Foundry Freaks appear after the waves are defeated.
  3. Fight Frank, Hank, and Sal together.
  4. To repeat the encounter, use the nearby Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine and pay for another attempt. The machine makes the fight repeatable, but the retry costs cash. Game8 and All Things How describe this loop.

Foundry Freaks legendary loot

Game8 lists these three legendaries as rewards from the Foundry Freaks encounter:

  • Chuck: legendary assault rifle.
  • Bloody Lumberjack: legendary assault rifle.
  • Chaumurky: legendary grenade.

The encounter-wide list does not mean any one member is established as the source of every item. Lootlemon’s database, updated June 2, 2026, assigns Chuck to Hank the Welder, Bloody Lumberjack to Sal the Engineer, and Chaumurky to Frank the Furnace. It lists a 9% rate for each assigned item. These are third-party database figures, not guaranteed drop chances; the available information does not establish how rates may vary by mode, level, or game patch. See Lootlemon’s boss database for its listings.

What Chaumurky does

Game8 describes Chaumurky as an Order Legendary Grenade Ordnance with the “Incessant” effect, which continuously homes in on a target. Its item guide identifies the Foundry Freaks as a source and notes that the encounter can be repeated through Big Encore: Game8’s Chaumurky guide.

Practical combat tips

This is a three-boss encounter, not a solo duel: Mobalytics describes Frank as using ranged attacks while the other two bosses pressure the player. Keeping space and concentrating damage on one boss at a time can make the fight easier to manage. Game8 recommends incendiary weapons for clearing the Rippers and corrosive weapons against the bosses’ yellow health bars. It also suggests leaving a Ripper alive if you want an enemy available for Second Wind. These are guide recommendations, not a tested universal build.
