Yes—Ditto can breed with an eligible Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, but two Ditto cannot breed with each other. Pair Ditto with the Pokémon whose Egg you want, then collect Eggs from the Picnic basket. Pokémon in the Undiscovered Egg Group cannot breed, even with Ditto.
Can Ditto breed with Ditto?
No. To get an Egg, pair Ditto with an eligible non-Ditto Pokémon. The Egg will hatch into the non-Ditto parent’s species, not a Ditto. Serebii’s Scarlet and Violet breeding guide describes Ditto as a partner for other Pokémon, not as a way to produce Ditto Eggs.

Which Pokémon can breed with Ditto?
Ditto can pair with eligible Pokémon regardless of gender, making it useful when you do not have a compatible opposite-gender partner. It can also pair with Pokémon whose gender is unknown. However, compatibility does not override the Undiscovered Egg Group restriction: Pokémon in that group cannot breed with Ditto or any other partner. Pokémon’s general breeding guide explains Ditto’s broad compatibility, though its examples cover Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, not Scarlet and Violet.
How to get Eggs with Ditto in Scarlet and Violet
- Put Ditto and the eligible Pokémon whose offspring you want in your party.
- Start a Picnic.
- Wait for Eggs to appear over time, then check the basket and collect them. An Egg may not appear immediately.

The available guides do not establish a current, officially verified wait time or rate for each Egg Power level, so there is no reliable fixed number of minutes to promise.
