Roblox says cheating and exploiting violate its Terms of Use and can lead to account deletion. Using a modified Roblox client or software that changes how Roblox works can also result in a temporary suspension or, if repeated, a permanent ban. The action depends on the conduct and Roblox’s moderation decision; there is no guaranteed warning-first sequence.
What Roblox counts as cheating or exploiting
Roblox’s Cheating and Exploiting guidance says cheating and exploiting violate its Terms of Use and lead to account deletion. Roblox Support explains: “Exploiting or cheating is unfair to all Roblox players and creates a poor experience for everyone.”
The separate Anti-cheat Messages guidance prohibits modified versions of Roblox and software that changes how Roblox works. Roblox Support warns: “If you use a modified version of Roblox, we might have to take action on your account.” Its stated possible outcomes include a temporary suspension and a permanent ban for repeated use. Use the official, unmodified Roblox app.
Roblox also warns that exploit downloads can be scams that install malware, including keyloggers or phishing programs. Do not download or run cheat tools. If you encounter someone exploiting or sharing exploits, use Roblox’s Report Abuse options.

Is a ban automatic, or does Roblox warn first?
Roblox’s Content Moderation on Roblox overview says moderation depends on the violation and the user’s history. Possible actions include warnings, content removal and account-level restrictions; repeated violations may bring more severe consequences. It does not promise that every cheating case receives a warning before stronger action, nor does it set a fixed penalty for every detection.
Roblox account ban or ban from one experience?
A Roblox account moderation action and a creator-issued experience ban are different. Creators can enforce custom rules within their experiences, subject to Roblox’s Terms of Use and Community Standards. Roblox says users should appeal a custom-rule ban to the creator; Roblox does not handle appeals of those creator decisions. The distinction matters because an experience ban does not necessarily prevent access to the rest of Roblox.

| Action | Who issued it | What it affects | Where to appeal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roblox account moderation | Roblox | Account-level access or content, as described in the moderation notice | Use the appeal route specified in the notice |
| Experience ban | The experience creator | That experience; Error Code 267 indicates a creator-issued ban, and other experiences and Roblox features may remain accessible | Contact the creator through the channels they provide; Roblox Support cannot remove the creator’s ban |
Roblox’s Understanding Custom Experience Rules on Roblox explains creator enforcement. Its Error Code 267: Banned from an Experience article identifies that code as a creator-issued ban, not a Roblox account ban.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to appeal a Roblox account action
- Read the moderation notice. Follow the appeal route it names. Eligible categories may be handled through Violations & Appeals; other account appeals can be submitted through the Roblox Support form.
- Submit the appeal as the account owner. Identify the account and briefly explain why you believe the action merits review. Someone else cannot submit an appeal on the owner’s behalf.
- Meet the applicable deadline. Roblox’s Appeal Your Content or Account Moderation guidance generally gives 30 days from the moderation action. For users in the European Union, Roblox’s current information states a six-month appeal period for an initial moderation decision and describes additional dispute options under the Digital Services Act. Check the notice and applicable local terms for the route and rights that apply.
- Wait for the review rather than sending duplicates. Roblox says it will not review duplicate appeals for the same account action after it has reviewed an appeal. Appealing does not guarantee the action will be reversed, and short consequences may have ended before a decision is reached.
Roblox says appeal reviews consider the violation’s severity, the reason for appealing and the user’s behavior on the platform. Its moderation and appeal guidance does not provide a guaranteed outcome for a particular cheating case.
