Usually, no: a PlayStation Store voucher code must match the country or region of the PlayStation account redeeming it. Check both regions before buying or entering a code. PlayStation’s UK terms note an exception only when the voucher itself says otherwise.
Why a PSN code from another region usually will not work
PlayStation says voucher codes and an account’s country or region must match for activation. Its troubleshooting guidance says a voucher issued for a different country cannot be redeemed in that account’s PlayStation Store region. The rule applies to Store vouchers for wallet balance, games and add-ons, in-game currency and consumables, and season passes. PlayStation’s voucher-code troubleshooting guide and UK voucher terms describe the restriction; the UK terms qualify it with “unless otherwise stated on the Voucher Code.”

Check your account region and the voucher region
Find the country or region on your account
- Sign in to Account Management.
- Open Your Information, then edit Residential Address.
- Look at the country or region shown at the bottom of the page. PlayStation also provides an account-information route in the PlayStation App under Settings and Account Information.
PlayStation says the account’s country or region cannot be changed after the account is created. If the account region is not the one you need, a voucher for another region will not change it.
Identify the voucher’s region
For a physical voucher, look for a printed flag or other region indicator, as PlayStation advises. If the code is digital or the region is unclear, check the seller’s product details or ask the seller before purchasing. Do not assume a code will work just because it is sold in your country or uses a familiar currency.

Redeem the code on the account that should receive it
PlayStation’s official redemption steps support the web, PS5, PS4, and PlayStation App. The interface differs by platform, but none of these methods bypasses the region match: sign in to the intended account and enter the voucher’s 12-digit code through PlayStation Store. Once redeemed, the credit or content is applied to that account. See PlayStation’s redemption instructions for the available platforms.
Voucher codes are single-use and cannot be transferred between accounts, so confirm the signed-in account before submitting the code. PlayStation notes that some subscription vouchers may require a valid payment method. Wallet top-up vouchers for child accounts must be redeemed by the family manager.

If PlayStation rejects the code
- Region mismatch: Compare the account country or region with the voucher’s printed or seller-stated region.
- Entry or validity issue: Check the code characters and confirm the voucher is still valid and has not already been redeemed.
- Wrong account: Check the signed-in account and its transaction history. Funds or content cannot be transferred to a different account after redemption. If needed, contact PlayStation Support with purchase details.
- Redeemed but not visible: Confirm the correct account, then sign out and back in or restart the console. Check transaction history or the Library for the item.
Disc-game add-ons have an additional region check
Even when a voucher is valid for your account, downloadable content for a physical game must be compatible with the game disc. PlayStation says an add-on cannot be used with a disc if the add-on’s country or region differs from the disc’s licensed country or region. Check the small print on the game box or ask the retailer about the disc’s region before buying add-on content. Before buying a PlayStation Store gift card, confirm the recipient’s account region and make sure the card is issued for that same region. A code that works for your account may not work for theirs. If the recipient’s region is unknown, ask before purchasing rather than relying on the card’s currency or the country where it is sold.
