For indoor crops, use a Watering Can or plant them in pots with Retaining Soil to cut down on watering.
Do sprinklers water Garden Pots in a Shed?
No. Sprinklers water eligible tiles each morning, but Garden Pots cannot be watered by sprinklers. Putting one beside or among your pots does not automate their watering, regardless of sprinkler tier. See the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Sprinkler page and Garden Pot page.
How to grow crops inside a Shed
Sheds are indoor farm buildings, and Garden Pots let you grow crops inside them. Indoor pots can grow crops from any season, but they cannot grow Ancient Seeds. Because indoor crops need water regardless of the weather, plan for manual watering or use Retaining Soil. The Shed and Garden Pot pages describe these mechanics.
Water pots with a Watering Can
Use a Watering Can to water the crops in your Garden Pots. A sprinkler in the same building does not replace this step. See the Watering Can page.

Use Retaining Soil to reduce watering
Retaining Soil keeps crops watered for extra days. Deluxe Retaining Soil means a crop needs to be watered only once, reducing repeated watering without requiring a sprinkler.
Sprinkler coverage does not change the pot restriction
For ordinary eligible tiles, a Standard Sprinkler waters four adjacent tiles, a Quality Sprinkler waters eight, and an Iridium Sprinkler waters 24 each morning. Those larger coverage areas do not make Garden Pots eligible for sprinkler watering.

Plan around Shed size and access
A standard Shed’s interior is 11×9 tiles; a Big Shed’s is 17×12. The Stardew Valley Wiki describes an optimal Big Shed arrangement with 168 Garden Pot spaces harvestable by Iridium Scythe. Treat that as a specific layout figure, not a guarantee that every arrangement or control scheme will be equally accessible. See the Shed page.
In practice, choose pots when you want indoor, any-season crop growing and can accommodate watering; use sprinklers for eligible tiles elsewhere, not as a way to automate pots.
