Not automatically, according to Roblox’s published guidance. Roblox does not say that every third-party browser extension results in a ban. But Roblox makes no official browser extensions, warns that third-party add-ons can put accounts at risk, and prohibits cheating, exploiting, and software that changes how Roblox works. An extension’s behavior matters: a cosmetic browser aid is not the same as a tool that cheats or modifies the game client, though Roblox does not guarantee any particular extension is safe or exempt from enforcement.
What Roblox’s rules say about extensions and bans
Roblox says it does not create browser extensions and that none are officially available. Third-party extensions are separate products, not Roblox-approved software. Its support guidance warns that extensions can compromise accounts or expose personal information, but it does not say that installing any extension automatically triggers a ban. Roblox’s account-safety guidance recommends checking an extension’s permissions and avoiding one that requests personal or sensitive information.
Roblox’s enforcement rules focus on conduct and software that affects the game. Its Anti-cheat Messages page says using modified Roblox apps or software that changes how Roblox works is against the rules. Roblox says violations may result in a temporary suspension or, if repeated, a permanent ban. Its Cheating and Exploiting guidance says cheating or exploiting violates the Terms of Use and will lead to account deletion.
That is not the same as saying every browser add-on is a modified game client. In a May 6, 2025 announcement, Roblox defined modified clients as custom versions of the Roblox application binary downloaded from third-party sites, or official versions changed by external tools at runtime. It said it may take action up to account termination when it detects one. The announcement, updated May 30, 2025, also describes an exception for users with edit permissions testing in a place they control. Read Roblox’s modified-client announcement.

Which extension behaviors raise the most concern?
Roblox does not publish a blanket ruling for every extension or feature, so do not treat this distinction as a guarantee. As a practical guide, consider what the add-on actually does:
| What it does | What to consider |
|---|---|
| Changes how information appears in the browser | A display-only feature is different from software that changes the Roblox app or gameplay. Roblox does not specifically guarantee that a particular display aid is safe or exempt from enforcement. |
| Interacts with gameplay or changes how Roblox works | This is much closer to the conduct covered by Roblox’s anti-cheat rules. Cheating, exploiting, or modifying the running client can lead to suspension or account deletion. |
| Requests a password, session cookie, or sensitive account access | This creates a serious account-security risk. Do not give an extension or another person your password or cookie. |
Roblox’s exploiting guidance also warns that exploit downloads may be scams that install malware, including keyloggers or phishing programs. Account theft and moderation are separate risks: an extension might compromise your account without itself causing a ban, while prohibited cheating or client modification can create enforcement risk.

How to check an extension before installing it
- Verify the source. Roblox recommends using known browser extension stores. It does not endorse third-party Roblox extensions; if you are uncertain about an add-on, do not install it.
- Review permissions and reviews. Check what the extension can access and whether its permissions make sense for its stated function. Be wary of requests for personal information or sensitive data.
- Reject requests for passwords or cookies. Never share your Roblox password or session cookie with an extension or another person.
- Use official Roblox software. Roblox recommends official download sources, particularly in connection with modified-client enforcement.
- Secure your account independently. Roblox’s safety PSA recommends a unique password and a password manager. These reduce account-security risks; they do not make an extension compliant with Roblox’s rules.
Why session cookies matter
Roblox’s account-session-protection announcement explains that a stolen .ROBLOSECURITY cookie can let someone access an account without its password, and identifies browser extensions as one possible source of cookie theft. The announcement has since been updated: a 2026 update says browser extensions and other workflows using these cookies will be unaffected by the change discussed there, while session protection continues in the background. That update is about account-session security, not a blanket approval of extensions or a ban rule. Roblox’s Account Session Protection announcement.
What to do if Roblox flags your account
If you believe Roblox mistakenly detected a modified client, use the Violations and Appeals process identified in Roblox’s modified-client announcement. An appeal is the official route to ask Roblox to review enforcement; it does not guarantee that the decision will be reversed. If you suspect an extension stole account information, stop using it and secure your account through Roblox’s official account-safety guidance.
