Yes. Put a harvested Starfruit in a Seed Maker and it will usually produce Starfruit Seeds—but the result is not guaranteed. The machine can instead return Mixed Seeds or an Ancient Seeds packet.
What a Seed Maker can produce from Starfruit
According to the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Seed Maker entry, each processed crop has three possible outputs:

- 1–3 Starfruit Seeds: 97.51% chance.
- 1–4 Mixed Seeds: 1.99% chance.
- One Ancient Seeds packet: 0.5% chance.
These are documented in-game mechanics, not results of a real-world study. The wiki says the output and quantity are determined by the in-game time and the Seed Maker’s location. Processing one crop takes 20 in-game minutes.
How to process a Starfruit
- Place a Seed Maker on your farm or another available location.
- Interact with the machine while carrying a harvested Starfruit and insert the crop.
- Wait 20 in-game minutes, then collect the output. It will usually be Starfruit Seeds, but either alternate result is possible.
You can craft a Seed Maker at Farming Level 9 with 25 Wood, 1 Gold Bar, and 10 Coal. It is also available as the Dye Bundle reward on the Bulletin Board or occasionally in a Skull Cavern treasure room, according to the Seed Maker entry.

When it makes sense to use the Seed Maker
Use it when you want to turn a harvested Starfruit into seeds for a future planting and are willing to accept the chance of an alternate output. If you would rather keep the crop, Starfruit has a listed base sell price of 750g; the Starfruit entry describes it as the second-highest-priced crop by sell price, after Sweet Gem Berry. Whether to process or sell depends on your immediate need for seeds and your goals.
Starfruit Seeds are planted in Summer and take 13 days to mature. If that timing does not suit your plans, other seed sources may be more convenient. The Starfruit Seeds entry lists these options:

- Buy them at the Oasis for 400g.
- Check the Traveling Cart, where occasional stock is listed at 600–1,000g.
- Donate 15 Museum items to receive one seed from Gunther.
- Look for 5–20 seeds in occasional Skull Cavern treasure rooms.
- Use the Seed Maker with a harvested Starfruit.
The listed prices and crop value do not, by themselves, determine which option is best: crop quality, profession bonuses, and your current goals affect the value of selling or growing Starfruit.
