These are central features of the game’s violent horror, not minor or occasional content. PlayStation describes its setting as a horror-filled gothic city populated by deranged mobs and nightmarish creatures, and also lists Blood and Gore and Violence in its US product information.
How should parents decide if it is suitable?
The M 17+ rating is the official US classification; it cannot predict how a particular child will react. Consider the content described by the ESRB and your child’s response to graphic violence, realistic-looking blood and horror imagery. If you are unsure, review the ESRB summary or preview gameplay yourself before deciding.

- Think about how they respond to frightening creatures and horror settings.
- Decide whether you are comfortable supervising optional online play and reviewing account and communication settings.
Outside the United States, check the rating assigned in your region. The ESRB classification is not a universal age rating.
Does Bloodborne include online play?
Yes. The PlayStation product listing identifies online play as optional. However, the ESRB explicitly says, “Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB,” so the game’s rating does not assess other players’ conduct or interactions.
