Yes. A Warlock can heal, and the Celestial Patron is the clearest subclass choice for building healing into the class. Its Healing Light feature provides limited-use healing, while its subclass spell options add healing and restoration magic. The details depend on whether your table uses the 2014-era rules or the revised 2024 rules.
How a Warlock heals
The Celestial Warlock’s healing comes from two different sources: Healing Light, a limited pool of healing dice, and subclass spell options. They are separate resources, so a Warlock can use Healing Light without spending a spell slot.
That makes the Celestial a healer-support option, not an automatic replacement for a dedicated healer. How well it meets a party’s needs depends on the character’s level, choices, and the campaign’s rules and resting pace.
What the 2014-era Celestial rules provide
Wizards of the Coast published the Celestial in its June 2017 Unearthed Arcana: Revised Class Options as playtest material. It should not be treated as a final 2014 Player’s Handbook subclass. In that playtest, the Celestial gains its expanded spell list, bonus cantrips, and Healing Light at Warlock level 1.

Healing Light
The playtest gives the Warlock a pool of d6s equal to 1 + its Warlock level. As a bonus action, the Warlock touches a creature and spends up to a number of dice equal to its Charisma modifier, with a minimum of one. The creature regains hit points equal to the dice total. Expended dice return after a long rest.
The feature’s text begins: “At 1st level, you gain the ability to channel celestial energy to heal wounds.” — Unearthed Arcana: Revised Class Options, Wizards of the Coast, June 2017. Read the playtest document.

Healing and restoration spells
The 2017 playtest’s expanded list includes Cure Wounds at 1st level, Lesser Restoration at 2nd, Revivify at 3rd, and Greater Restoration at 5th. These are additions to the options associated with the subclass; they are not the same resource as Healing Light.
For this rules version, Warlock Pact Magic spell slots return after a short or long rest, according to the 2014 Basic Rules. That recharge schedule differs from Healing Light’s long-rest recharge.

What changes in the 2024 rules
D&D Beyond’s overview says the 2024 Player’s Handbook revises the Warlock and brings back the Celestial Patron from Xanathar’s Guide to Everything with updates. It also describes changes to how Warlock subclass spells are prepared. Use the 2024 rules together rather than combining them with the 2017 playtest’s expanded-list wording. See D&D Beyond’s overview of the 2024 Warlock.
The detailed feature and spell information below is from a secondary transcription of the 2024 rules, not a directly consulted official rulebook page. Check your copy of the 2024 Player’s Handbook for the exact rules your table uses.

Which version should you use?
Start by checking whether your campaign uses the 2014-era rules or the 2024 Player’s Handbook. The 2017 Unearthed Arcana document is explicitly playtest material, while the 2024 subclass has been revised; their spell-list presentation and Healing Light details should not be blended into a single build.
- For a 2014-era game: Treat the cited Celestial feature details as the 2017 playtest version, not as proof that those exact features are final 2014 Player’s Handbook rules.
- For a 2024 game: Use the 2024 Player’s Handbook as the authority for feature text, spell preparation, and Pact Magic rules. The transcription can help identify the updated features, but it is not the official rulebook.
Is a Celestial Warlock right for a healer role?
Choose the Celestial if you want a Warlock with healing and restoration support built into its subclass. Healing Light provides healing without a spell slot, and the listed spell options include ways to heal or address conditions. It does not establish that every Celestial Warlock can cover every party’s healing needs; consider your party, spell choices, level, and rest opportunities before relying on it as the sole source of support.
