Playing alone is possible through workarounds on PC, but it is useful to distinguish three different things: being alone on a server, hosting a private server, and using a community tool designed for offline-style exploration.

A local server can give you a private environment, but hosting one involves more setup than launching the game and selecting a single-player option. An older DayZ forum walkthrough describes connecting to a locally hosted server through the LAN tab: Playing offline. Treat that as an older user walkthrough, not guaranteed current instructions; server software and client steps may change. Consult current server documentation for the version you are using.
Using Community Offline Mode
DayZCommunityOfflineMode is a separate community project whose stated purpose is to let users explore DayZ in a single-player environment. It is not part of a built-in official campaign. Can you play DayZ offline with no internet?
“Playing solo” and “playing offline” are not the same. A locally hosted server can be private, but that alone does not prove that the game can launch and operate without internet access. The available sources do not confirm reliable no-internet play under current Steam, authentication, or anti-cheat requirements. If you need the game to work without a connection, do not assume either workaround will do so.
