What does the mentor choice do?
The mentor choice provides a starting ability and points toward a style of play, according to the community reference. It does not permanently lock you into one class. Funcom describes Dune: Awakening progression as classless, with multiple skill trees and customizable abilities. Xbox Wire likewise describes five Schools and choosing skills and abilities over time. The available sources do not establish exactly when every other School or skill becomes available.

Character creation includes detailed cosmetic settings. The official page lists eye makeup style, eyeshadow and eyeliner color and strength, lipstick style, color and strength, lip gloss, and metallic lipstick styles. It reports 18 eye makeup options and five metallic lipstick styles; these are feature counts on the page, not a claim about a particular game update.
Is there a separate character creator?
Funcom historically announced a standalone Character Creator and Benchmark Mode for creating a character in advance and checking hardware performance and compatibility. That announcement does not establish whether the utility is still downloadable or whether a character made in it can currently be imported into the live game. Do not assume either is available without checking current official information.
