What makes a high-rated card useful for an SBC?
High-rated fodder can help meet a squad-rating requirement, but overall rating is only one part of the puzzle. EA says puzzle-style Squad Building Challenges may also set requirements for chemistry, player quality, leagues, nations or clubs. A card that looks inexpensive may not be eligible or may make the rest of the squad harder to complete.

Before comparing prices, open the exact challenge and note every requirement. Then compare potential cards by platform, overall rating, item version, availability and price, as well as league, nation and club fit. Check that the specific item is accepted by the challenge; different versions of a player are not automatically interchangeable.

No current platform-by-platform cheapest 87-rated shortlist is established here. The named list available is a FourFourTwo article by John-Anthony Disotto, published on 22 October 2024. It gave approximate prices for these 87-rated cards at that time:

FourFourTwo described those figures as rough estimates that fluctuate with the market. They are dated examples, not prices verified for October 2026 or recommendations for what to buy now. The article does not establish which player is currently cheapest on your platform.
How to check prices before buying
- Read the SBC requirements. Record the minimum rating, chemistry and any player-quality, league, nation or club conditions. EA’s guide explains the possible requirements for puzzle SBCs: How Ultimate Team Squad Building Challenges work.
- Search your own platform’s market. Compare the exact rating and item version you need, rather than assuming every listing for a player refers to the same card.
- Compare usable options, not just the lowest listing. Check that the card can be bought and that its chemistry and other attributes work with the rest of your squad.
- Recheck immediately before purchase. Market prices move; an old guide or a price seen earlier may no longer reflect the available listings.
- Review the full squad before submission. Confirm that every requirement is met and that you are willing to lose each selected item permanently.
FUT.GG describes an FC 25 squad builder for comparing squad chemistry and price, alongside rating and SBC-related tools: FUT.GG FC 25 Squad Builder. FUTBIN provides an FC 25 market index and a player list with platform-specific market columns. These can help with comparisons, but their existence does not confirm a current cheapest card for every platform. Verify the exact item and price in your own market.

Why platform and card version matter
A price is meaningful only when you know which market and item it describes. Compare like with like: use the same platform, rating and card version, and confirm availability. If a database shows platform-specific prices, use the column for your platform rather than treating one market’s listing as universal.

Check the submission before confirming
EA says submitted items are permanently removed and SBC submissions are final. Before confirming, inspect the challenge requirements, the reward and every selected player. A cheap card is still a costly mistake if it is needed elsewhere or if the completed squad fails a requirement. EA’s official explanation of SBC rules is available in its SBC guide.

EA’s player-ratings table is not a complete live database of every FC 25 item. Its stated scope covers launch Gold, Silver and Bronze items for the surfaced title and excludes other types, such as Heroes, Icons and later campaign items.
