The best wireless headset for PC, PS5, and Xbox depends first on the exact model variant and how it connects. For a straightforward three-platform option, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X Wireless is listed for all three; for switching among several systems, compare the base-station setups of the Astro A50 X and Arctis Nova Pro Omni. Check feature differences as well as compatibility: for example, the Nova 5X does not support ChatMix on PlayStation.
What to check before choosing
“Compatible” can mean that a headset connects, not that every platform feature works or that every version of a product supports the same systems. Confirm the exact variant—especially Xbox and PlayStation editions—and the connection method you will use on each device.
- Platform coverage: Check support for your specific PC, PS5 or PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. If you use an older console, confirm that separately.
- Wireless path: A USB wireless dongle, Bluetooth, or a powered base station can involve different setup steps. Bluetooth support alone does not establish that Bluetooth carries game audio simultaneously with dongle audio.
- Switching: A dongle is compact; a base station can simplify a multi-device setup, but it needs a suitable place near the devices and may be required for the headset to work.
- Platform features: ChatMix and spatial-audio options can change by console or PC. Check support for the features you actually use.
- Battery and generation: Runtime claims apply to the specific model and test conditions reported, not automatically to a newer generation with a similar name.
Current prices and availability are not established here, so compare them for your region and verify the exact model generation before buying.
Wireless headsets to shortlist
| Model | Platform and connection notes | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X Wireless | SteelSeries lists Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, PS5 and PS4, and PC. The product page lists USB-C 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth. SteelSeries product page | PlayStation does not support ChatMix. A direct fit to consider if you want one listed headset for Xbox, PS5, and PC, but confirm the connection and feature behavior for your setup. |
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless | RTINGS describes its wireless dongle as usable with Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, plus Bluetooth for phone audio. RTINGS Xbox headset roundup | RTINGS reported over 33 hours of continuous runtime for the tested Nova 7X in its 2026 roundup. That figure is for the tested model, not the newer Nova 7 Gen 2; RTINGS said Gen 2 had improved battery life but was not yet tested in that guide. |
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni | PC Gamer describes a base station with three USB-C connections, including a dedicated Xbox connection, and support for PS5, PC, and other devices. It also describes Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic on PC and Xbox, and Tempest 3D Audio on PS5. PC Gamer review | Consider it if a multi-device base station and those platform audio options suit your setup. The review discusses it as an alternative to the Astro A50 X for buyers who prefer ANC and swappable batteries to balanced sound and HDMI 2.1 passthrough. |
| Logitech G Astro A50 X | Tom’s Hardware describes a powered base station connecting to PC, PS5, and Xbox, with 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth routed through the station. Tom’s Hardware review | The base station is required for the headset to work. Make sure your setup has room for it near the devices you plan to use. |
| Audeze Maxwell 2 | RTINGS’ 2026 PS5 guide describes separate PlayStation and Xbox variants. It says the Xbox version also works with PC and PlayStation, while the PlayStation version provides access to Sony Tempest 3D audio. RTINGS PS5 headset guide | Choose by the platform features and connection needs of the exact edition; do not assume the two variants are interchangeable. |
Which connection setup fits your gaming space?
Choose a USB wireless dongle for a simpler desk setup
The Nova 5X and Nova 7X are worth comparing if you want a headset whose wireless dongle can serve multiple platforms. The Nova 5X manufacturer lists the three target platforms and USB-C 2.4 GHz wireless; RTINGS describes the Nova 7X dongle as usable on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation. Check your device’s available ports and the relevant model’s platform-specific feature limits before settling on either.

Choose a base station when device switching is the priority
The Nova Pro Omni and Astro A50 X put connection management at a station on your desk. The Nova Pro Omni’s three USB-C connections, including a dedicated Xbox connection, may suit a setup with several devices. The A50 X routes both its 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connections through its powered base station, so it is less convenient if you cannot place that station where your systems are.
How to make the final choice
- Write down the systems you will use. Include PC, PS5 or PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S as applicable; check older-console support separately if needed.
- Match the exact headset edition to those systems. Pay particular attention to Xbox versus PlayStation variants, such as the Audeze Maxwell 2 editions.
- Choose the connection workflow. Decide whether a dongle is enough or whether you want a base station, then check port availability and where the station must sit.
- Confirm the features that matter. If you rely on ChatMix or a console’s spatial-audio mode, verify support for that feature on your platform rather than assuming compatibility includes it.
- Check generation and current local listing details. Do not apply Nova 7X runtime figures to Nova 7 Gen 2, and verify current price, availability, and variant before purchase.
What the available comparisons do—and do not—settle
These models are a practical shortlist, not a definitive ranking of every wireless headset currently available. RTINGS’ 2026 roundup describes the Nova 7 as a mid-range Bluetooth gaming headset and the Nova Pro Omni as an alternative to the Astro A50 X for buyers who prefer ANC and swappable batteries over balanced sound and HDMI 2.1 passthrough. The evidence here does not establish comparable sound, microphone, comfort, or current-price results across all five models, so use hands-on fit and current independent reviews to decide those points.
