Depths Relics are special relics earned by completing expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign’s Deep of Night mode. They have three dedicated slots, can add new powers as well as detrimental effects, and activate only during Deep of Night expeditions.
What are Depths Relics?
Depths Relics are a mode-specific relic category in Elden Ring Nightreign. Bandai Namco describes them as a new power for Nightfarers, with effects and drawbacks not found in existing relics. Their effects are not necessarily unconditional upgrades: consider the downside as well as the benefit when choosing what to equip.

They are distinct from ordinary relics in one important way: a Depths Relic is active only during a Deep of Night expedition. It cannot be used as an active effect in other modes.
How do you get Depths Relics?
Complete Deep of Night expeditions. Bandai Namco’s October 9, 2025 explainer identifies expedition completion as the way to obtain them, but does not specify drop rates, a guaranteed reward cadence, or exact effects. Those details should not be assumed.

How many Depths Relic slots are there?
Deep of Night provides three additional slots for Depths Relics. These dedicated slots can be used alongside your existing relics, giving you room to combine the mode-specific effects with your usual loadout.
How do you unlock Deep of Night?
You must first defeat Night Aspect, a Nightlord. The mode is online-only and supports expeditions with one to three players, according to Bandai Namco’s August 28, 2025 announcement.
What changes in Deep of Night?
The target Nightlord is unknown at the start
You do not learn which Nightlord you will face until the expedition begins. Bandai Namco recommends preparing a well-rounded relic loadout rather than building around a known target. That is general preparation advice, not a guarantee that one setup is best.

Enemies are stronger, and difficulty rises with depth
Enemies are stronger than usual, and some may be more powerful variants marked by a red sheen. Wins and losses affect your rating and depth; as depth rises, enemy strength increases. At higher depths, key map locations may be concealed, and the target Nightlord may remain unknown until the final fight.

Ongoing Shifting Earth states are not active during Deep of Night, so do not plan an expedition around those changing map conditions.

- Weigh both sides of an effect. A Depths Relic can offer a new power but also impose a detrimental effect, so judge the trade-off for your Nightfarer and intended approach.
- Keep the setup flexible. Since the target Nightlord is hidden until the expedition starts, a loadout that remains useful across different encounters is a safer general approach than one dependent on a specific boss.
- Use the dedicated slots deliberately. The three Depths Relic slots let you add these mode-specific options alongside existing relics; they do not make the effects available outside Deep of Night.
